Vizio recently launched a mammoth 60″ plasma television, the VIZIO VM60P. That’s a full five feet of screen estate, at a price point of under three grand - $2,499 to be exact. With this set, the company departs from its usual black bezel with silver speakers. It comes in brushed copper bezel, with a pair of 20W speakers hidden below the screen. This further reduces the size of the television, which comes in at 4.9 inches deep without the stand. And the 1366 x 768 native resolution means that even though the set can accept 1080p sources, it downscales them to 720p. And the 7000:1 contrast ratio ensures crisp, bright images, with 10-bit color processing resulting in a gamut of 1.07 billion colors.

The VM60P comes with all the standard features that you expect from a HDTV at this price point, including picture-in-picture (PIP), picture-outside-picture (POP), tons of connectivity options, a wide 178 degrees viewing angle, and support for PC and video games consoles. Colors remained vibrant and natural throughout. At almost 179 pounds, make sure you have someone at hand to help you lift and set up the television. One minor issue was SD quality, which ranged from good to fair, and this comes as no surprise for a screen this big. The HD content, on the other hand looked great. The VIZIO VM60P is a great HDTV, both when considering the size of the screen you’ll be getting, and the overall quality of the display. Plus, you can never go wrong with the price this beauty retails at.
