The Philips 50PFP5332D/37 is another lower priced, large HDTV plasma set that appears to be a good value buy. 50-inch Plasma’s are a pretty standard size but you won’t usually find one for under $1500 like the 50PFP5332D. Philips is also a long-standing, reliable brand that you can usually trust. They have been in the game for quite awhile. The 50PFP5332D is a great looking set which features a thin case, black surround bezel and an included silver stand. This 50″ plasma set includes many of the features you should expect but is missing a few more advanced features that helps keep the price so low.

You won’t be disappointed with the style and picture display of the Philips 50PFP5332D 50″ Plasma. It features Philips Pixel Plus 3 HD for extra sharp HD images. It also includes great stereo sound with virtual Dolby Digital surround sound. One downside to the Philips 50PFP5332D is the lack of 1080p resolution which is becoming more and more popular. HD movies like HDDVD, Blu-Ray and gaming systems like the PlayStation 3 have the capability to output a 1080p signal which will still work with the 50PFP5332D but won’t be quite as sharp as a TV that is capable of displaying 1080p. Overall, the Philips 50PFP5332D is one of the better value buys available.

This television is junk just like everything that Philips makes. Control board went out after owning tv for less than 2 months, took them 6 weeks to fix it and now control board has went out again. except now television is out of warranty and Philips doesnt give two, well, you know. save your time dont buy their junk as it will lead to nothing but headaches
This telievision whas a NIGHT MARE! After having it just 2 months it started turning itself on and off. It took Philips FOREVER to get some one out to fix it and then it took another 3 weeks to get it back. When we did get it back it immediatly started doing the same thing only it would turn itself off and we couldn’t get it to come back on. Again, it took philips forever to get somene out to look at it again. Since they went through another control board they said it was unfixable. They offered us another TV, but it was going to be 10 inches smaller, or our money back. Every time we faxed in our reciept they kept saying it was “unreadable”. We finally gave in to the smaller TV since it had been forever and the day we recieved that one it was a nightmare as well. Now we have a way smaller TV thats sound makes blaring static after watching it for very long. Save your self the headache and never deal with Philips’ awful customer service and HORRIBLE products!
This is email I sent to Phillips customer service….
To whom it may concern,
I have purchased a Phillips 50 in plasma TV (50PFP5332D/37B) in August 2007. Eleven months (July 2008) later TV broke and it was replaced by refurbished unit after 40 days of wait (The TV was still under warranty). Today (February 2010) TV broke again for what it seems exact problem. The “relay” was clicking and then TV just died. That is what exactly happened in July 2008.
I am very disappointment customer with Phillips product. This is unheard that same TV (same model) dies twice in 3.5 years. My last TV (Sony) was replaced after 17 years and it still works!!! Obviously there is questionable quality of the Phillips TV. I will never purchase another Phillips product.
Disappointed customer,
