Panasonic Viera TC-P58VT25 Review: 58” Plasma TV

Up for Review: Panasonic Viera TC-P58VT25 Plasma TV. Among the scores of LCD TVs presented at CES this year, it was this Plasma model from Panasonic which stole the show. The manufacturer has not put a lot of emphasis in making the TV too thin but the overall look from the front is good. The most notable thing about the TV is however its inbuilt features. Using all the innovative technology released this year, like the 3D and Internet access features, Panasonic has really produced a good product to compete with any other in the market. Having obtained the THX certification, it offers movie viewing of the best quality.

Panasonic has improved upon its Viera features in the models released this year. The Viera Cast gives wireless capability with the help of the Ethernet port. You can stream content from Bloomberg News Service, Amazon Video on Demand, Netflix, Skype, Twitter, YouTube and many other notable sites. Similarly, the Viera Link allows you to network all the computers into this TV for a complete entertaining experience. There are all of 4 HDMI, 2 USB ports, RS232C and PC input among the connectivity options. Additionally, there is the Viera Image Viewer feature which helps you to view all photos from a digital camera.

Panasonic Viera TC-P58VT25 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 58” display
  • 3D ready
  • 1080p display resolution
  • Wi-Fi
  • VGA
  • SD card
  • USB port
  • 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio

Although 3D technology was the most discussed and appreciated at CES, it was observed that this Plasma model was far ahead in picture quality and 3D reproduction than all other LCD TVs. One reason for this is the 600 Hz sub field drive which is able to provide 1080p resolution to each eye. And when this was compared to LCD models, even 240 Hz refresh rate could bring only 800 lines of resolution to each eye in 3D. The viewing angle of this model is also quite good. There is no washing out of colors at the edges or any substantial deterioration in picture quality even if you sit at an angle from the TV.

The integration of Skype services among the sites accessed through Viera Cast is really a heartening feature. It helps people to connect to each other over the Internet and talk and see each other quite easily. The images may not be very clear and neither the sound which warrants a lot more improvement in the services. Besides this, another important feature is the Energy conservation issue. Because of the NEO PDP panel, there is a good energy saving. This feature also contributes in making the price of the model a lot less than it should be. This TV may be a good one to invest in if you are looking for the latest Plasma TV with all the current features.

Just got this TV recently I’m really picky with my TV;s I need the accurate vivid vibrant colors with high contrast no ghosting and deep blacks. wish I could afford a used Kuro but Panasonic was the next best choice, I did my research and compared them side be side with proper settings at local stores with the PNc8000 and unc9000 and other TV’s, The TCP58VT25 won my vote every time but wish I was able to afford the 65 inch version.
