Panasonic TH-P46G2 Review: 46” Plasma HDTV
Up for Review: Panasonic TH-P46G2 Plasma TV. With the focus clearly shifting very much in favor of LCDs, Panasonic is among the few manufacturers fighting to keep the viewers attracted to the Plasma models. The last few years have seen the development of LCDs to match the contrast ratio of Plasma TVs in the higher screen sizes. But to be fair, the Plasma TVs have still retained their charm and there are plenty of people willing to buy this TV from Panasonic keeping in mind the really extraordinary contrast ratio of 5000000:1. You can certainly expect the black levels to be really great. The images will be completely natural with the blacks and the whites being distinctly distinguished.
The looks of this Plasma TV are pretty impressive. Some of the models still retain the stark black looks but Panasonic has been clever enough to add color to some of the TVs making them look different. You can choose the accurate color matching the décor of your house. The bezel is quite simple and slim like most of the TVs this year. There are no intricately designed stands on which the TV can rest. It sticks to the normal circular stands for maximum support.
Panasonic TH-P46G2 Features and Specifications Review:
- 46” display
- 1080p display resolution
- 3 HDMI
- 5000000:1 contrast ratio
Panasonic has maintained the 1080p display resolution as you would have expected. This resolution gives you the option to be able to watch the best picture quality on the TV. You have the option of connecting Blu-ray disc players to watch the latest movies which will certainly give a better picture in 1080p. The price of this TV may have gone up due to the high resolution but it is worth the money if you can get good images.
You can’t expect the HDTV manufacturers today to not pay enough attention to the connectivity options. This model too excels in connectivity with 3 HDMI. You can connect Blu-ray disc players, camcorders and gaming consoles whenever you want. Besides the HDMI, there are D-Sub, an Ethernet port, three composite interfaces, S-Video and a headphone jack. There is however no mention of an USB port or a PC input. This would have made the TV much more flexible. You can consider buying this set to get the latest Plasma TV for a competitive price of $2850 MSRP.
