Panasonic TH-P42S2 Review: 42” Plasma HDTV

Up for Review: Panasonic TH-P42S2 Plasma TV. Panasonic has not set its sight very high this time and has concentrated on producing basic models of Plasma TVs for the die-hard fans of these panels. But it has remembered to integrate 1080p display resolution in these models to delight the movie lovers. This might result in a higher cost but most viewers will be willing to pay this for better images. Although the viewer would have enjoyed watching the movies on the home theater system with a larger screen size, 42-inch is not too bad either. It can be either kept in the living room or also squeezed into dorms and offices. With amazing picture quality, it is not a bad addition to the décor of a room.

The first thing that you notice about any Plasma TV is the contrast ratio. This TV too sports a very good 2000000:1 which makes the blacks appear deeper than ever. It emphasizes the contours and the small details of the images making them much more natural. You can look forward to the color too which emphasizes every individual shade. The Plasma TVs are of course known for their lack of motion blur. You can easily watch action scenes with no disturbance.

Panasonic TH-P42S2 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 42-inch display
  • 1080p display resolution
  • 2000000:1 contrast ratio
  • 3 HDMI
  • 1 S-video
  • 1 PC input
  • Surround Sound
  • 10W output power

The looks of the TV are as attractive as any other HDTV today. Characterized by slimmer bezels and a sturdy stand, it has most of the controls on the side and the back. Perhaps the one feature which sets this model apart is the anti-glare feature. Even with harsh lights, the screen will reflect the minimum glare. As far as the audio is concerned, perhaps it could have been better than 10W but with surround sound, you will have no difficulty in hearing the conversation or the music.

Most Plasma TVs are ridden with the problem of ghosting. But this model can be viewed with no such troubles upsetting you. And the connectivity options are also quite good. Along with 3 HDMI, there are 1 S-video and 1 PC inputs. You have the privilege of watching movies and photos on the TV through the Blu-ray disc player and the camcorder. There is however, no USB port to help you see the photos from your digital camera. But the TV gives you most of the basic features of an HDTV for a competitive price.
