Panasonic TC-P50S2 Review: 50” Plasma HDTV
Up for Review: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Plasma TV. Panasonic has provided a blend of the high end and low end models in this year. While this set is much more technologically advanced than the U2 and C2 series, it lacks the most prominently advertised 3D and Viera Cast features of the flagship model. But still there are quite a number of interesting features which will keep you engaged. For starters, it has a NeoPDP panel which accounts for the superb picture quality of the TV. The reflections from the light source are greatly reduced while producing enhanced brightness and contrast in the images. This panel is also responsible for cutting down the electricity bills because of energy conservation.
Panasonic has not given as much thought to the TV structure this time in the Plasma section. The depth of the TV is about 3.5 inches which means it will not be as attractive mounted on the wall. Next year we might see the introduction of super slim Plasma TVs from the manufacturer. But the front design is good and especially with the CleanTouch Bezel, you won’t get to see any smudges on the screen. There is not much complaint one can have about the pictures with 1080p resolution taking care of the quality of images. The Plasma TVs this year also have a 600 Hz Sub Field Drive which gives a much better picture than the high refresh rates in LCD TVs.

There are 3 HDMI in this TV which helps you to connect any high definition device to the TV like a Blu-ray disc player or a gaming console. Although there is no PC input, you have a SD card slot which you can use for seeing the photos from your digital camera. There are quite a few ports missing in this model, chief among them being the Ethernet port. This would have helped you access the Internet through the Viera Cast technology. Without the PC input, you cannot convert the HDTV into a computer monitor. Basically, you can use this TV only for watching normal TV programs, movies and for playing games.
Although Panasonic has not included the Viera Cast feature, it has retained the Viera Image Viewer and the Viera Link features. With Viera Image Viewer, you can view full-HD images from your camcorder or digital camera. The TV lets you navigate through the photos easily. With Viera Link, you can control all devices connected to the TV through one remote. There is also a Game mode which allows you to enjoy playing games due to the quicker image response. It shows up the dark images and works with the wobbling function also. In short, this TV is a good one to buy mainly because you can get a large display for a smaller price, but you should be prepared to sacrifice your wishes for more high-end features.

Why can’t I hook up a PC to this tv through the HDMI port from the HDMI on the PC?
