Panasonic TC-P46S2 Review: 46” Plasma HDTV
Up for Review: Panasonic TC-P46S2 Plasma TV. The S2 series from Panasonic retains some of the important features of this year while losing out on the major features like 3D and Viera Cast. The main attraction of this series happen to be the NeoPDP panel which gives a much brighter picture while keeping the energy consumption low. You will also hardly get to see any reflections from the light source on the screen and the images show up in higher contrast. Panasonic maintains a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 which is wonderful for the black levels. The images can be seen with great clarity and the 46-inch screen is adequate for watching natural images in the living room.
Panasonic does not compromise with the resolution in the S2 series. This set has 1080p moving picture resolution which is very useful when you watch movies on the Blu-ray disc player. If you manage to get 1080p resolution for a comparatively low price, then it is a very good deal for you. Action scenes are improved with less afterimage. The price would have dropped some more if it would have been 720p and you could have watched the TV programs without any problem. But 1080p certainly gives you the pleasure of watching crisp and razor sharp images while seeing the movie action.

Connectivity is good with 3 HDMI. Watching movies and playing games becomes a habit by connecting with the Blu-ray disc player and a gaming console. 2 USB ports provide the luxury of being able to watch all photos from digital cameras and camcorders. The SD card slot also helps in this process. Panasonic has integrated the Viera Image Viewer to enhance the photos on the big screen. The Viera Link feature takes care of the control over the devices linked to the TV. With a single remote, you can access and control all the devices.
This series also makes use of the 600 Hz Sub field Drive technology which allows 1080p resolution for each eye, resulting in sharper images. The image–analysis technology also helps provide a better picture quality with no blurring or artifacts. The Game mode is another interesting feature of this TV. You can switch to this mode while playing games on the gaming console so that the images are vibrant and clear. The darker images can be seen more clearly. Panasonic is also mindful of the energy conservation issues and conforms to the Energy Star 4.0 requirements. This is a good TV for you if you are not looking for the glamorous 3D effects and Viera Cast features. It can make a good second option for your home.
