Panasonic TC-42PS14 Review: 42” Plasma HDTV

Up for review: Panasonic TC-42PS14 Plasma TV. The Panasonic TC-42PS14 is a good mix of features and price. This 2009 release features Panasonic’s Neo PDP plasma panels. These panels serve multiple purposes. They not only enhance the brightness but also keep a guard over the power consumption that plagues Plasma TV’s. The contrast ratio is a good 30,000:1 and is not affected by the power savings of the Neo PDP panels. The Panasonic TC-42PS14 also conforms to the requirements of Energy Star.

Panasonic keeps up with basically standard 1080p resolution as well.  The picture quality is very good with 600 Hz sub-field drive. Our review shows an absence of picture judder and the images are quite natural. Action sequences are great to watch because of this. The color quality lacks uniformity but by regulating the brightness, Panasonic ensures that the HDTV lasts for about 30 years with about 8 hours of viewing everyday. It has 100,000 hours of life span.

The Panasonic TC-42PS14 has the SD Photo viewer feature. By using the memory card of your camcorder and digital cameras, you can see the photos and videos on the HDTV. The VIERA Link is another important feature of this HDTV. This feature review shows us that you can control all the gadgets connected through HDMI inputs with a single remote. The remote provided with the HDTV is adequate for this purpose.

Infinite Black is the name of the extreme black levels which can be achieved by the Panasonic TC-42PS14. This feature improves black levels and also contributes to power saving.

This HDTV is great for gaming machines too. The 1080p resolution looks great with gaming consoles that support it. A complete review of the TC-42PS14 features shows that this TV has a lot of great features; plenty for the average viewer.  It doesn’t have all the latest bells and whistles but it does the basics very well and has a good picture.
