Review of LG 42PG20: 42” Plasma HDTVLG 42PG20 review

The 42 inch LG 42PG20 plasma HDTV is a slim and stylish new TV from LG electronics which focuses on its exterior appearance. The absence of a speaker grille enhances the look of the HDTV by leaps and bounds. In fact, the presence of “invisible speakers” is the most unique feature of this product. The “sweet spot” is increased which gives a wider sound field. 720p HD resolution provides beautiful video images with compact-disc quality sound. The Dual XD engine reduces noise and produces clear life-like images.

Fast action flicks from sports and movies can be enjoyed without any judder effect. This is possible due to 180 Hz effect of Fluid Motion technology. The performance is upgraded by 3 times the actual refresh rate. The picture and sound settings can be made in 3 AV modes to suit cinema, sports and game content. One button on the remote control is enough to set all three modes.

Many TV‘s used to have audio issues with the voices not being loud enough to match the background music but LG’s Clear Voice technology amplifies the sounds in the human voice range so that you can hear what characters are saying without getting blown away by background music.. The 42PG20 has a life span of 100,000 hour which would be enough to last you longer than you‘d probably keep the TV.. 3x HDMI with Deep Color enhances the color depth by displaying several shades of the same color. This lends a more natural and life-like character to the images.

Listed at $1099 MSRP, LG’s impressive style and design makes it a strong contender with some of the cheaper, lesser known brands in this same size range. Some of those brands appear to offer more features but quality and durability must be taken into account.

YouReviewElectronics.com gives LG 42PG20 8/10 stars!
