Mitsubishi WD-65737 Review: 65” DLP HDTV

Up for Review: Mitsubishi WD-65737 DLP TV. If size is the criterion for a very less price, then Mitsubishi WD-65737 is just the TV for you. With all other competitors leaving the rear projection scene, Mitsubishi remains the sole company to cater to the people who are searching for DLP HDTVs. However, it is not very thin which makes it impossible to hang it on the walls. It looks better on its stand. The design is sleek with a very thin black bezel skirting its sides. The speakers are camouflaged below an arc at the bottom. A few controls are there at the bottom concealed under a flip-down door. It is a great experience to watch the huge images flitting across your eyes.

The remote lacks a good design. A review shows that the remote has almost same-sized buttons for every function. It is not backlit and neither can you differentiate between the buttons on the basis of touch or location. But since it is a Universal remote, you can use it to control other devices connected to the HDTV as well. The menu system also needs improvement. It displays an hourglass when unable to connect which is quite often. The system could have been better designed to make it more user-friendly. The input selection has been replaced by the “Activity” using which you can choose to watch TV or the DVD. There is a “More” menu which provides access to the audio and video presets which are used often.

Mitsubishi WD-65737 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 65” RPTV
  • 1x analog/digital combo TV tuner
  • HDMI PC interface
  • DLP projection display technology
  • 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 180W lamp power
  • Universal remote control
  • 2 speakers of 20W
  • Volume limiter
  • Built-in Dolby Digital Decoder

The Perfect Tint Control and the NetCommand system are missing in the Mitsubishi WD-65737. The higher versions of this TV have these features. This HDTV has a lamp-based system as opposed to the LED lighting system. The lamp is guaranteed to last a year and can be replaced for a price of something over $99. The picture quality on this set is also quite good. There are 4 picture modes, two color temperature presets and a Perfect Color function. There are many other features for enhancing the image, but there is no scope for dejudder processing.

The Mitsubishi WD-65737 is 3D ready which means that you can play a lot of games on it. A compatible PC and graphic drivers will help in the gaming process. Although there are no specific features for reducing power consumption, the Mitsubishi WD-65737 is extremely energy efficient in comparison to the LCDs and Plasmas. There are very less uniformity issues and the black levels are quite decent. It looks great in brightly lit rooms. It can also be used as a computer monitor. If you compare the overall performance of your Mitsubishi WD-65737, it provides good value for money.

YouReviewElectronics.com gives Mitsubishi WD-65737 8/10 stars!
