The Westinghouse SK-32H240S is a 32 inch LCD HDTV available at Best Buy and other online retailers. Westinghouse is a popular flat panel manufacturer because of its considerably lower prices than more popular brands. We previously reviewed the Westinghouse SK-26H240S and expect the SK32H240S to perform similarly but with a few more features that make it a better HDTV than its 26 inch model. The SK-32H240S has improved its contrast ratio which will make a noticeable difference over the SK26H240S. The SK-32H240S can be found for around $600-$700 which isn’t too bad of a deal for a 32 inch LCD HDTV.

Westinghouse SK32H240S Features & Specifications Review

  • Resolution: 720 (1366 x 720)
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9 widescreen
  • Dimensions: 31.4 inches wide, 6 inches deep, 22 inches high, 29.1 lbs
  • Built-in Tuners: NTSC/ATSC/QAM
  • Viewing Angle: 176 degrees
  • Contrast Ratio: 1200:1
  • Brightness: 400 cd/m2
  • Comb Filter: 3d digital
  • HDMI Inputs: 2
  • S-Video Input: 1
  • Component Inputs: 2
  • RF Inputs: 1
  • PC Compatible: Yes

The Westinghouse SK-32H240S features the same attractive exterior as the 26 inch model with a mostly black surround bezel and some dark gray accents. We didn’t completely recommend the SK26H240S because of some so-so features but the SK-32H240S completely improved them. The wider viewing angle and improved contrast ratio really make this HDTV a decent deal. For only another $100, the Westinghouse SK-32H240S is a great option to consider in the bargain priced brands.

YouReviewElectronics.com gives the Westinghouse SK32H240S 8/10 stars!

After receiving the first TV I noticed the picture would flicker and I thought it may be because the cable wire was old. I changed the cable wire with no results to the TV. October 27, 2008 I called Westinghouse to have it fixed to find out that I have to pay to ship it back. It took one week to get a RMA number from Westinghouse so I could return the TV. After paying $52.50 to UPS to ship this TV to the shop, I was told that it can’t be fixed but they would test another one to see if it works and sent it. They told me that I would get an email for the tracking number but I didn’t. I come back from vacation to find two notices on my front door stating that I missed FedEx and thank God I was there for the third attempt. When removing the replacement TV from its box I smelled a burning odor and the unit has scuff on the front, the base was loose and I had to tighten every screw. After turning on the TV and having it try to auto scan the channels, it turned off after 2 minutes. It took 4 times to get this TV to auto scan all the channels without turning off. When the TV turns off on its own sometimes it won’t come on for awhile. It’s not in a TV stand so it’s not over heating. Now here we go again! I called Westinghouse on December 2, 2008 and was told I would get a RMA# and shipping slip by Friday December 5, 2008. Here we are December 9, 2008 and still waiting for the RMA#. It took over a month to get the first replacement in and I should not have to wait another month to get my next TV. And now all I getting is the run around from Westinghouse. From 8/12/2008 till now 12/9/2008 I’m still waiting for my TV.

I had the exact same problem. After less than a year and a half, the colors went and then the whole screen went black. After talking to numerous tech support people, I am still waiting for a supervisor to contact me. (At Westinghouse, they have to call you). Because of this, I am telling everyone I know: DO NOT BUY WESTINGHOUSE!! It is a WASTE of time and MONEY!!! They do not support their products! I have been told by TV repairmen the name has been sold to some company in China and they would never purchase one. BUYER BEWARE!!!

bought a westinghouse sk-32h240s in march of ‘08. used the set approximately 10 hours per week. after a year-and-a-half of light use, the set has just started emitting an acrid odor that smells like melting plastic. unplugged the set fearing it may be a fire hazard. contacted westinghouse customer service via the support portal (http://www.westinghousedigital.com/contactus.aspx). crossing my fingers after reading the horror stories others have reported with westinghouse product support.
