Vizio XVTPRO550SV Review: 55” LED HDTV

Up for Review: Vizio XVTPRO550SV LED TV. Vizio has entered the year 2010 with a newfound resolution to become the top grosser in the world of HDTVs. Making an emphatic entry with the introduction of 3D technology in the VT Pro series, Vizio has launched the model in three different sizes. The 55-inches one is meant for the people with a taste for something different and who want to add excitement to home entertainment. Employing Sensio XpanD shutter glasses, this set has tried to create a thrilling viewing experience for the 3D enthusiasts. It is certainly going to be a pleasure watching the action sequences where you might just feel like getting up and joining in the action yourself!

The number of zones in the local-dimming LED backlight has been incremented to 120 from the previous 80 in the previous model. The higher the number of zones means lesser the amount of blooming. Although blooming was not that big a problem in the previous model of the same size, yet with higher number of zones, the picture quality certainly gets improved. You can expect to see much better brightness and contrast making for a clearer and crisper picture.

Vizio XVTPRO550SV Features and Specifications Review:

  • full-array LED backlight with local dimming
  • 3D compatible
  • 480Hz refresh rate
  • Via interactive functionality with Amazon Video on Demand, Netflix, Rhapsody, Twitter, VUDU, Yahoo TV Widgets and more
  • Optional-in Wi-Fi connection
  • Optional wireless HDMI base station

The refresh rate has been pushed up to 480 Hz in the Vizio XVTPRO550SV which will add excitement to the high-action scenes. But it remains to be seen how it can be more advantageous than the 240 Hz models as far as motion resolution is concerned. Vizio makes use of a scanning backlight together with the much-used motion estimation and motion compensation technology. All these features are expected to produce a better picture with absolutely no blurring or artifacts. Whether you watch a car race or a duel between two warriors, you will get a beautiful picture where you might even get out of your seats in a frenzy with the 3D effects catching on to you.

Along with the 3D technology, another feature which might catch your fancy is the built-in wireless receiver. The presence of built-in Wi-fi was already a great attraction in the previous XVT model. But with this wireless receiver accessing an optional base station through a 60 GHz signal, the interference with other wireless devices is completely minimized and you will get a full 1080p resolution. The 4 HDMI enable to send sound and pictures without wires. Priced at $2499 MSRP, this HDTV is certainly set to add a new dimension to your entertainment options.

EXCEPTIONAL picture quality, very easy to set up and use. I especially like the picture programs for specific events (golf, movie, football, etc.) I give this set 5 out of 5 stars.
