Vizio XVT473SV Review: 47” LED LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Vizio XVT473SV LED LCD TV. In a bid to provide custom-made models in the HDTV market, Vizio has introduced this set, which has most of the good features released this year except for 3D. This is to lure customers in this niche segment who want a huge display, great picture quality, all the latest features and yet a lower price. These customers are not yet ready for the 3D technology and would like to wait a year or two before indulging in it. Vizio has been clever enough and has left no stones unturned to turn on the aesthetic appeal of the set. You are sure to be attracted by the sleek front view along with all the ports which are neatly arranged at the back. The price of under $1500 MSRP will be another factor which makes the TV more appealing.
Vizio adds a new meaning to the refresh rate. According to the manufacturer, this set has 240Hz SPS refresh rate which is actually 120Hz refresh rate with scanning backlighting. It remains to be seen how capable this feature is in tackling the blurring and artifacts in the action scenes. If Vizio proves successful in providing clear and crisp pictures using this technology during car chases and sword fights, then it will pave the road for other HDTV manufacturers to follow suit. Being LED edge-lit, this set can prove to be a pretty picture on the walls because of its slim looks.

The people who opt for this set are mostly enamored by the Internet Apps which promises to provide you access to Amazon Video on Demand, Netflix, Rhapsody and Yahoo widgets. This can be an enriching experience for the techno-savvy. The TV has 1080p display resolution and a high dynamic contrast ratio of 1 million to one. This is of course quite useful in producing the best picture quality. The images can be seen in natural colors and just the right kind of brightness too. Vizio has also paid attention to the energy conservation issue and makes this set Energy Star 4.0 compliant. In-built features in this TV make sure that it uses the minimum energy only. There is also a handy remote with this set which has a QWERTY keyboard. In fact, this set can turn out to be great favorite with the consumers if its performance is as good as expected. A few days more and we will find out.

Beware of buying a new release of any kind electronics… this is seems like a prototype which all the problems will occur during the first launnch of new product and during this process the manufacturing will get your feedback and will fix the problem and a new version will be release and as for me lesson learned not buying Vizio product again i’m going back to Samsung or Sony.

Just came home with ND 47″ Vizio LED! Had a 42′ (bought 15 months ago)Vizio and had a VCR hooked up with VA cables and a Phillips Hard Dive recorder hooked up with component wires and worked fine.
So when i brought the first 47″ Led home thought it would be a snap to hook up. NO_NO—Spent 2 days and 5 phone calls to Vizio. I could not get my HD to open up on the screen. Even with all the help from Vizio. So back to wal-mart for an exchange. Guess what, the same thing.
Enough already–Going back to my 42″ and saving my $1,300.00 +.
I purchased the model xvt473sv 45 days ago. I have been having problems with the tv shutting off randomly. No solutions from service. I have checked my power to the tv going so far as to use a different power source. They installed a new power board, mother board, to no avail. On line it has been suggested there is a firmware problem as well. The solution for this problem was to disconnect from the internet
(HuH!) I will be returning this tv if my recent e-mail to Visio is not satisfactory.
We purchased the xvt473sv a year ago for Christmas. About 4 months ago we started having minor problems. The set would turn itself off. The past three weeks we have had distortion on the lower 25% of the screen. There are multicolored lines. Sometimes the whole picture is fuzzy. Sometimes the picture freezes but the sound keeps working. We bought the set at Costco. Their concierge service did some trouble shooting with us. When the problem returned Costco connected us with Vizio tech support. This resulted in at least 6 phone calls. They had us do the same troubleshooting as Costco had done which didn’t solve the problem. Later they said we had to leave the TV connected to the Internet to receive updates. At one point we had to e-mail Vizio photos of the screen and our purchase receipt They tried to blame our Direct TV service for the problems. Finally they agreed to send out a repairman. Today they have called and said they are replacing the TV with a recertified model but that will take between 8 and 13 days. We wonder if this set will have the same issues. Bottom line, we’d never buy a Vizio again.
