Vizio XVT3D474SV Review: 47” LED LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Vizio XVT3D474SV LED LCD TV. If you were wondering why Vizio had so few 3D models to offer at the beginning of the year, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the introduction of three more 3D models in the supplementary section. This 47-inch TV will be widely appreciated by everyone because of its optimal screen size, beautiful looks and lower costs than its competitive models. The manufacturer has promised to keep the prices under the $2000 mark. The glasses needed for viewing 3D images have also undergone a change. It will now be the conventional infra-red sync which will help you view in 3D instead of the Sensio XpanD glasses.
Among the two LED lighting technologies, Vizio prefers to keep this model LED backlit to ensure a better black level and hence brighter pictures. It may have compromised a bit on the depth of the TV but the picture quality is expected to be excellent. You will be able to realize the difference in the images if you compare this TV with models of the previous year or with normal LCD models. You will even be able to distinguish between the different shades of black. There are 120 zones of local dimming in this TV which means that the different zones will brighten up or dim down as per requirement and not all at a time. This also amounts to a lot of energy conservation.
Vizio XVT3D474SV Features and Specifications Review:
- 47-inch display
- 3D technology
- 480Hz SPS refresh rate
- LED backlit with 120 zones of LED dimming
- Internet Apps
- Bluetooth audio
- 5 HDMI inputs
- SRS Audio “Studio Sound HD”
- QWERTY keyboard remote
The initial 3D models released in January had 480Hz refresh rates. This has been somewhat diluted in these second phase of models and termed 480Hz SPS refresh rate. It amounts to 240Hz refresh rate with scanning backlighting. It seems that achieving 480Hz refresh rate was not a very realistic expectation. In fact, what matters most is the ability to get crisp and clear pictures without any blurring or artifacts. Since Vizio promises to provide clear images even during high action sequences, there is nothing to worry about. The audio department is also given due importance with Bluetooth audio and SRS Audio “Studio Sound HD”. You will get a theater-like experience sitting at home.
This set also integrates Internet Apps to provide an enjoyable way of viewing a few selected Internet sites. These sites allow you to watch videos, music and photos from interactive sites together with watching the news and weather reports. There is however, no Internet browser in this set. But connectivity is very good with 5 HDMI inputs. The QWERTY keyboard remote too will help you manipulate the controls very easily. If you are really interested in buying a 3D TV this year with all the latest technological advancements but for a comparatively low price, then this is just the right set for you.

This set really does deserve 5 stars! We waited for 5 years researching, looking and debating before buying this Visio 47”, full array TRULED™ LCD 3D HDTV with VIZIO Internet Apps Model ‘#XVT3D474SV, 1080i, 480Hz, 10 million to 1 contrast ratio. We drove to 5 different Sam’s Clubs before we found one that carried this model and had it in stock. There were only 2 of the units in the store. It was super easy to set up and within 15 minutes I was up and running with a marvelous picture, great sound, and some bucks left in my pocket. I haven’t even connected the surround sound yet because the sound quality is very good with the “rich SRS TruSurround HD™ audio”. The universal Bluetooth remote’s full QWERTY keypad simplified the set up process even more by being able to slide the remote open and type away. The picture is truly great! Clear, crisp, beautiful colors make the whole room come alive and the 10 million:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio delivers really deep blacks and bright whites. Setting up the wireless internet connection was equally as simple. It was all completed in the set up process. Make sure you have your router number handy when you start set-up and this computer will find it quickly. Getting connected to Netflix, Amazon, Rhapsody, Flikr, Facebook, Twitter as well as the latest news, sports and weather through Yahoo was a breeze. This set replaces a Sony which has a good picture, but it doesn’t compare to this TV.
We purchased our Vizio XVT3D474SV in December. We love the TV but, we are disappointed in the progress on new and updating apps. One in particular is the Hulu app. Which is advertise on their web is supported for your VIA TV’s. We inquired about this app with Vizio in January and were told this app and others would update to this TV in March. This has yet to happen. Caution for those that may want to purchase this TV. Vizio Tech department has not been keeping up with the technology. This could be a killer for this company. I feel the technology from Vizio, of updating apps, has been extremely slow for this “High End” and “Very Expensive” TV. Just my opinion.
This is a weird purchase for me, coming from being a SONY & Samsung Fanboy. This is the most outstanding 2D picture I have ever laid my eyes on, and I have seen many High-end Television sets. I almost bought a Sony XBR-HX909 for the super high reviews on its amazing 2D image. But once I saw the 3D image I was a bit thrown off by the 3D technology, after already owning a Panasonic 3D Viera which was much better. So this is what I have gathered from my total experience with the Vizio 3D HDTV:
