Early in 2008, Vizio updated its line of LCD HDTVs, and announced new additions to its existing VW series. Vizio aims to combine together excellent picture quality and aesthetics while at the same time providing excellent value for money for the consumer. The 46″ screen in this budget-buy series, available in stores, is the VIZIO VW46LF. This particular set not only has great looks and style, but features to back it up as well. Like other large-screen HDTVs from Vizio, the VW46LFHDTV10a features full 1080p resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and has a maximum retail price of $1,399. Unlike the earlier models from the company, this one comes in complete piano black bezel frame, and at a very respectable 53 pounds. We tested the VW46LF with a variety of content, including standard and high-definition television, video discs, and as a PC display, and it delivered excellent results in all our tests. With its support for full 1080p at 60 frames per second, even next-gen games on both the Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 look great, though a special Game Mode would be a welcome addition in future models of the series. Colors remained excellent throughout with very good levels of black. Like all Vizio sets, the display also supports wall mounting. It is, of course, not a Sony or Samsung, but for someone looking for a quality large screen display, with all the bells and whistles, the VIZIO VW46LF comes across as a welcome addition to their homes.
