Vizio VS42LF Review: 42” LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Vizio VS42LF LCD TV. Vizio does a great job creating HDTV’s for every range of shopper. This offering is meant for the people who are just obsessed with medium screen size but don’t demand any high-end features. Although the technology used is the latest, there are no distinctive features to boast about. The manufacturer has maintained a liquid crystal panel and has not gone in for the LED technology. This is just a plain Jane from Vizio to cater to the people interested in having a TV for normal viewing. The picture quality is good and you can watch the regular news and weather channels without any disturbance. However, if you want to access the Internet and watch videos and images on the different sites, it is better that you settle for a more advanced model.
Vizio has also made this TV for those people who are great movie buffs but prefer to watch them from the confines of their homes. With a 42-inch screen, 1080p resolution and 2 HDMI, you can connect a Blu-ray disc player to the TV and watch all the latest movies. The high resolution will give a wonderful picture with all the details in the images nicely displayed. The outlines of the images can be distinctly made out and there is no haziness in the scenes. You can also enjoy playing computer games on the set by connecting a gaming console. And if you love recording videos wherever you go, then it will definitely be a pleasure to watch the results on the big screen by connecting your camcorder.
Vizio VS42LF Features and Specifications Review:
- 42” display
- 1080p display resolution
- 178 degree viewing angle
- 500 cd/m2 brightness
- 8 ms response time
- 2 HDMI
- 1000:1 contrast ratio
Vizio has again failed to give much importance to the contrast ratio and hence to the black levels. With a low contrast ratio of 1000:1, you can hardly expect very dark blacks or pure whites. You are sure to find the blacks looking grayish and you will also be unable to distinguish between images in the very dark scenes. On the other hand, the brightness level is pretty good at 500 cd/m2. This means you can watch the pictures clearly both in dimly-lit and bright rooms. You don’t exactly have to squint to look at the pictures.
The 8 ms response time is also not very favorable for watching fast action scenes. There will be no problem in scenes where the characters are either sitting or strolling around. But when it comes to swords swishing and cars chasing one another, there may be a bit of blurring in the scenes. But since this set is meant for watching normal TV programs, you will face no such problems. The manufacturer has also integrated a 178 degree viewing angle in the model so that you can watch the TV from any seat in the room with equal clarity. So if you are looking for a regular HDTV with a huge screen size and less price, this is just the set for you.
YouReviewElectronics.com gives Vizio VS42LF 3/5 stars!
