We purchased a Vizio 55″ tv, model # e550vl, approximately two weeks ago. We are having a terrible time with it. The biggest problem is that the remote works only during daylight hours with the satellite dish , we also have a universal s.remote and it stops working when the vizio remote stops. It works all the time with the tv antenna. At 6 pm every night the remote stops working on the satellite, but continutes to work with the tv antenna. We even tried hooking another tv to the satellite dish and our universal remote works. We have called the support staff numerous times and they act nochalant and uninformed and like they really don’t care. We bought this tv because we believed it to be an American product and we could talk to someone who speaks English, but I have to say the English speaking support is much ruder than any foreign support person I have ever spoken to. They cannot or will not even address the problem. Also the close captioned stays on all the time, you cannot use it only when tv is muted. They said there is no way to have cc on only when mute is on. This is another problem. You also cannot get rid of the black background on the cc , and change it to transparent background. Someone mentioned we should speak to someone who cares about selling tvs, but I don’t know who that is. We are elderly and it is a problem to be lugging back a 55 inch tv. And I think Vizio shojuld compensate us for this problem, right now our only option is to return the tv and buy another brand.

Got mine today thru Dell, they had on line coupons and got the the TV for $1099.00, this is my first big screen TV and I love it, it is much bigger than I thought and the picture and sound is awesome, cant wait to get the sound bar….Well worth the money.

My sound is awful on pay channels. Too loud during chase sceens or excitement, then too low to hear when they are just talking. I too want a rebate. Thanks

Bought this TV @ Walmart a month ago and love it! With mounting bracket and HDMI cables, total cost was $1500. Best TV for the money! Wouldn’t consider spending more for the larger name brands.

Just purchased this TV Friday 2/19/10 at Target for 980.00, their was damage to the box but is was originally listed for 1399.99…very happy with my purchase, the picture is great, and the brand is definately up and coming!

Just purchased this set on Friday 2/5/10 at Wal-Mart for $1298.00 for the big game on Sunday. Awesome picture. 100x better than the DLP set I paid 2300.00 about 6 years ago. Definately worth the money paid.

SAME PROBLEM AS WILMA. Bought it around Thanksgiving. It was working fine until yesterday when the same exact green line showed up. Can’t figure out how to get rid of it. Anybody know how to get rid of it?

Just bought the 55 in tv on sale at Costco on 11/28, set it up and it has a green line about 1/4 in thick on the right side, cant seem to get rid of it. Called Vizio and they don’t know how to fix it – we are returning it today. Very unhappy!

Just bought one today at Costco, will be psyched if it drops to $1199 (was $1450). HOWEVER, Costco is posting this TV as the VF550XVT1A but the actual TVs they had in stock are the slightly older VF550M model. I thought that was sort of dishonest, but I bought it anyway since I had made the trip. It doesn’t seem like there is any difference in the specs, but if anyone knows what the difference is, that would be helpful
