Am so impressed with vizio. Its 55’’ xvt hdtv will have backlit led technology, which I heard is so much better than sidelit!
In sizes under 52″ the unit has NO operational controls on the tv so if you
misplace the remote, you cannot watch the tv. Ever lost the remote at night and decide to wait until the next day to find it????? You can’t with this set.
To Phil,
Look on the left side at the back of the screen. There IS a full set of controls .
Bought a Vizio HDTV eighteen months ago. The picture went out 2 weeks ago.
After many calls to Vizio, they shipped parts to a local repair man, who finally came out to fix it. Said it is not repairable.
I do not recommend Vizio. Have bought many TVs in the last 50 years…never had one go out after 18 months.
I was waiting for the sv422xvt for long time the first one has the picture distored. I went and exchanged it. Now I’m very happy but still nevous and concern about the picture malfuntion. Otherwise I’m very happy that finally got it!
Bought the new, “state of the art” 42″ LCD with internet capability. Great features but picture will develop horizontal black lines with fast motion (very noticable with fire, gun shots, etc). Repair guy couldnt fix it, tv was replaced and still have same complaint, even after tweaking all the settings including smooth motion. Goes away momentarily after hard resets. What is going on?? Vizio support at this point is putting us off (not getting back until 3pm; unable to open video file; no call backs when told they’d call back.) Not impressed. Shoud’ve spent the extra hundreds on a Samsung.
Don’t know if this will fix it for you, Kat, but we had the same problem and ended up turning off most of the advanced pic. settings. Smooth motion, off, Real Cinema, off, etc. The lines went away for us. Sounds like you may have tried this, though. Good luck!
Not impressed, bought the 42″ inch SV422XVT and having several problems with it. The sound and picture fluctuate often even after plugging into a surge protector/suppressor. The worst though is that I purchased this TV for the built in Wifi which so far has not worked. I’ve had the TV for 2 days and have had 2 phone calls to Vizio tech support, they can’t determine problems so returning this item tomorrow.
Having trouble losing sound on 42″ SV422XVT when changing stations. Only way to get it back is to turn set off , wait 2 or 3 minutes, turn set back on then sound comes back on. Very anoying. Using cable box, re-booting cable box did not help.
Anyone else have the same problem. Vizio tech support says its cable box, not TV.
Elwood, Have noticed the problem you are having. I just hit the volume control on the remote once and the sound comes right back.
We purchased the 42″ SV422XVT online and had it delivered ‘site to store’. When we got it home I put the batteries in the remote and it would not turn the television on so I changed out the batteries with a new set. Still nothing. We could turn the television on with the controls on the side but since the remote is required to set it up, the controls were useless. For some reason the remote and the television did not seem to be able to communicate. I called technical services and relayed this to the technician. He said he would send out a new remote but he wanted the existing one back since this is so new they wanted to check it out. He said we would be receiving the new remote in 5 to 7 business days. We waited several weeks but the remote was not delivered and we heard nothing from Vizio. Needless to say we returned the television yesterday and do not plan to shop with Vizio again!!
the tuner is slow on my vizio 42 w/ internet aps . and the remote control works on and off.. i have also the VIZIO 55 basic led tv and its tuner is much faster.. . I HATE A SLOW TUNER !
Had tv for a year and half. Nothing but problems with it, the screen truns green, the tv wont come on and when you get in on it wont change channels and it wont turn off, has a poping sound from speakers. Vizio DOES NOT stand behind there product, everytime we call, they till us to reset the tv. Worst tv I have ever had DO NOT BUY A VIZIO, worst tv ever made, you get what you pay for they are cheap and that say’s it al, cheap piece of JUNK.
We bought our Vizio sv422xvt going on two months.. Love the Netflix app.and the picture.. but recently we have started getting the lines and then the picture gets distorted Soo disappointed. After ready the reviews, guess we better make our move quick and get this back to the store.
Don’t buy this TV. You can not control any of the apps without the remote, and if your remote breaks you may have to wait weeks like I am to receive a replacement from Vizio.
Having the same problem with the remote control with Vizio SV422xvt. It worked well when first purchased, but as time went by, now 6 months, the remote finally ceased to work at all. I have ordered a universal remote from Ebay, but I am not confident that this will solve the problem.
My vizio is 3 months old and is having sound problems….seems to be a common complaint………too bad I didn’t know this before I bought it. You can be watching a channel for a few minutes or 2 hours and all of sudden, the sound disappears….I have to change channels and then when I go back to the original channel the sound is back. Also, the commercials are so fricking loud!!!! But yet, you can barely hear the tv. Don’t buy this tv….junk.
bought the vizio sv422xvt 1 month ago awesome pic right out of the box led was incredible my prob was internet apps worked fine at first now works when it wants to, sometimes i cant even get the remote to make it respond .. done it all to repair restart and reboot tv says it has connection but apps say no connection..im waiting for the next prob to start
Excat same sound problem as fran. Also sometimes the tv just reboots, off and back on. The TrueVolume option does NOT soften the blairing commercials.
Why was my post removed. We aren’t allowed to post anything negative about the Visio 42, which most certainly has sound problems? My complaints are almost the same as frans post, so there is a problem here. Sound cuts off, TV reboots on its own at will.
VIZIO 42 LCD (E421VA)
The sound chirps on and off before going off and I have to change channels to get the sound back. I took one tv back hoping the first one was an exception and got the same type tv with the same defect.
