Vizio M420NV Review: 42” LED LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Vizio M420NV LED LCD TV. Vizio has added a few more models to its LED line to provide the consumers with better buying options. These TVs have the best of all the features released this year sans the 3D and Internet access technologies. The refresh rate is also 120 Hz instead of the much hyped 240 Hz in the higher versions of the HDTVs. As far as the outer looks are concerned, it has the same sleek black bezel but with rounded edges. The exterior is untouched by anything other than the manufacturer logo. All the controls are at the sides with the ports at the back. While the aesthetics are well taken care of, there is nothing you can complain of about the functioning of the set either.

With 1080p resolution, you get the best of picture quality possible. The images are absolutely razor sharp with the contours visible distinctly against the background. This 1080p resolution is ideal for watching movies on the Blu-ray disc player and playing games on the gaming console. The images are further optimized with a high contrast ratio of 100,000:1 which really makes the blacks look blacker than usual. Since the emphasis on producing natural and life-like images is immense, Vizio has integrated this TV with 450 cd/m2 brightness and 1.06 billion colors, which really makes the scenes come alive when watching interesting pictures on the TV.

Vizio has opted to integrate this TV with 120 Hz refresh rate which may not be as impressive as 240 Hz refresh rate but is enough to allow you to watch action sequences with pleasure. The 6.5 ms response time also guarantees that you will observe no blurring in the images and they will refresh themselves so fast that your eyes will not be able to detect the changes even in the very fast action sequences like sword fights and ballet dances. You will appreciate this set still more because of the 178 degrees viewing angle in both directions. You can sit in any place in the room and yet get a good view of the screen.

The audio is good with SRS TruSurround HD sound. This gives you the effect of having speakers all around you. The sound can be heard clearly no matter in which corner of the room you sit. The SRS TruVolume cuts out the fluctuations in sound and you get a steady sound with no ups and downs during commercials or change of channels. This set is a good one to have, especially since it provides 4 HDMI to connect to high definition devices. If you want the latest technology with a big display and have no interest in the 3D or Internet access features, then this model is just the one for you.
