I bought this TV through QVC. It’s the 22″ HD 1080p Razor LED LCD. I have to say the sound quality is awesome and it has a beautiful, clear picture but the remote totally sucks! Sometimes if you hit the volume button, it changes the channel and if you hit the channel button, it’ll mess with the volume. Also I find that the picture will blank in and out. Not sure if that’s my cable service or the TV. And the “prev ch” button that lets you switch simultaneously between 2 channels DOES NOT work. Perhaps I need to buy another remote; it’s a good TV but not great.
Summary: Tinny sound, finicky Wi-Fi, buggy apps
Seeing the rich Internet feature set I was enthusiastic to purchase this TV for use in the kitchen. However I am quite disappointed in the unit for the following reasons:
1. The sound is cheap and tinny, and can not be adjusted. Absolute lack of bass.
2. The Wi-Fi N capability is extremely picky…it took me over an hour to try various combinations of 20/40MHz N channels to find the magic formula for what would work. The unit will not operate on wireless channel 14 at all, and if you use 40MHz N channel you have to have the control channel on the lower of the two frequencies, and those frequencies must not overlap to channel 14.
3. The software is VERY buggy. Even after successfully attaching to the Internet via Wi-Fi the setup wizard persisted and would not allow any of the apps/widgets to connect, stating that the Internet was not yet set up. It is easy to get the TV in to a state of “funk” if you play with the apps too much.
4. USB port exists, but has NO functionality. It does NOT do ANYTHING. Some on Internet blogs have said it is due to an alliance with Internet video providers like Netflix, but that simply doesn’t make sense to me.
I am glad I first purchased this small TV as a preview to Vizio technology prior to making a decision on a 55″ HDTV. I went with the Sony Bravia for the large screen and am absolutely thrilled with how well it works, including its built-in WiFi and app integration. The Sony also has a rich integrated program guide that the Vizio completely lacks.
In summary, the unit is functional as a standard no-frills small TV and has a decent picture. However I should have saved my money and went with a simpler non-Internet model, perhaps from another manufacturer.
