Viore LC42VF55 Review: 42” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Viore LC42VF55 LCD TV. With Viore providing stiff competition to the leaders in the low-priced models, this HDTV brings to the fore the expertise of Viore in handling sophisticated technology. The 42” model has a 1080p resolution and yet sells for less than $600 MSRP. This is a major attraction for the viewers who want a good HDTV but are unwilling to loosen their purse strings. But most interestingly, viewers have been pleasantly surprised by both the looks and performance of this HDTV. Its narrow bezel and excellent picture quality appeal to most consumers.

After a review of the exterior, the design is pretty standard, similar to many other HDTV’s. Its black bezel narrows down into a sturdy stand made from the same black plastic. All the speakers are located at the base and produce quite beautiful sound. You can hear everything clearly in a large room. The TV is a bit wide and heavy but you can’t complain because of the compromise in price. The full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 makes the images look very natural. This is especially true when you connect Blu-ray players to see movies or play games with the gaming console.

Viore LC42VF55 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 42” display
  • VGA PC interface
  • 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 1500:1 contrast ratio
  • 176 degrees viewing angle
  • 3D comb filter
  • V-chip control
  • ATSC/NTSC/Clear QAM tuner
  • Infrared remote control
  • 2 Speakers of total 24 W
  • 2 HDMI
  • 1 year warranty

The viewing angle of 176 degrees is good but the images tend to wash out at the edges. You will get a pretty good view if you are seated somewhere in front of the TV. The response time is also a bit slow. A little bit of motion blur is obvious in the fast action scenes. But the normal scenes can be seen without any problem. The Viore LC42VF55 sports a contrast ratio of 1500:1 which is way behind what the latest Samsung TVs are sporting. The black levels need improvement. But the color is quite decent with the skin tones appearing quite natural.

There are 2 HDMI making it easier to see all high definition signals. Many compatible devices can be connected like camcorders, Blu-ray players and gaming consoles. Connectivity is further improved with the presence of component and composite video inputs. The VGA input helps to convert this HDTV into a computer monitor. But there is no USB input to help connect digital camera. You cannot view the photos on this HDTV. The Viore LC42VF55 is clearly meant for the common people who want the quality of an HDTV but are unwilling to pay a high price for it.

YouReviewElectronics.com gives Viore LC42VF55 8/10 stars!

Received a 42 inch Viore TV from one of our kids for Christmas.
Looks nice but right away husband noticed a white spot on screen the size of a large pin head. We became very skeptical that the TV would last very long. Sure enough, by the middle of January, half the screen became discolored, (green), and the image on bottom half of screen was doubled, upside down and reversed with lines. Our expectations had been met, unfortunately, and now we have to return the item. We hope to exchange for an item with better reputation for performance, even if we have to downsize.
