Toshiba 55ZX900 Review: 55” LED HDTV

Up for Review: Toshiba 55ZX900 LED TV. With the Toshiba 55ZX900, Toshiba introduces a new model of HDTV that is featured with the same cell processor that is found with Sony’s PS3 game console. The model is designed with many sophisticated and user-friendly features and displays impressive picture performance.

The Toshiba 55ZX900 is designed with a KIRA2 panel and features 9,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Other noteworthy features of the local dimming LED backlit LCD television model are 512 controllable zones in the backlighting, 1,000 cd/m2 brightness, and 3D capability. Unlike other television models with 120 Hz or 240 Hz, the Toshiba 55ZX900 with 480Hz processing allows more lines of resolution while watching 3D content. This extra video processing is featured in combination with scanning backlight which is used in other Toshiba models of previous years. Toshiba also claims that the TriVector 2D to 3D Conversion used with this model allows you view any program in 3D.

Toshiba has also announced the use of other beneficial features used with the 55ZX900 model such as standard-def and high-def processing. The features assure precise image accuracy and reduction of video noise. The augmented AutoView system featured with this HDTV model automatically adjusts contrast, brightness, gamma, color saturation, sharpness, and color temperature.

According to the manufacturer, the Toshiba 55ZX900 shares many features with a high-powered computer. For instance, the processor of the model operates about 10 times faster than an Intel Core 2 Duo chip of a PC. Its 802.11n built-in wireless, and a built-in 1TB hard drive enable the users to share media files such as pictures music and videos with other devices on home network. The integrated BD player of the model eliminates the requirement of connecting to an external BD unit. Although the Toshiba 55ZX900 is an LED-based LCD TV with local dimming, the company discloses that the technology has improved with this model than its previous models.

The user of Toshiba 55ZX900 can enjoy the full suite of interactive services such as CinemaNow, Vudu, Netflix, and Pandora. This Net TV options provide streaming content with video calling and conferencing options. Consumers can also enjoy cleaned up low resolution internet video with the Cell’s Net Resolution+. Ethernet port or 802.11n WiFi offers another user-friendly connectivity option with the Toshiba 55ZX900.
