Toshiba 40XV645U Review: 40” LCD HDTV

Up for review: Toshiba 40XV645U LCD HDTV. The Toshiba 40XV645U is the first of an entire series from Toshiba. The display of 40” is larger than the standard screen size in most HDTV’s. This is great in comparison to the expected price. A review of the Toshiba 40XV645U shows that the prices will be much less than its competitors.

The main feature which draws attention is the Dolby Volume. This is an innovative feature which handles the inconsistencies in volume. You will no longer be distressed when you change channels. The horrible increase of sound during commercials will also be missing. Dolby Volume feature takes care of all this. You will always get the same volume no matter what you see.

Another notable feature of the Toshiba 40XV645U is the FocaLight LED backlight technology. This feature is great for saving power and adjusting the brightness and making it soothing for the eyes. Depending on the room light conditions, the backlight is automatically adjusted for the correct effect. This feature will enhance the life of the HDTV.

Toshiba 40XV645U Features and Specifications Review:

  • 40” screen
  • 1080p resolution
  • 120 Hz processing
  • Auto View enabled
  • 14 bit enabled digital processor
  • Dolby Volume
  • 4 HDMI inputs
  • LED backlight
  • SD card slot
  • USB port
  • Clear Scan Advance Frame Technology

The Toshiba 40XV645U has 1080p resolution which includes advanced technology to give everything an “HD feeling”. But a review shows that it is a case of edge enhancement only. The resolution has still to achieve the perfect mapping. Auto View is another significant feature of this HDTV. It reads the incoming signals perfectly and accordingly adjusts the settings for the perfect images.

The Toshiba 40XV645U has 120 Hz refresh rate with dejudder. You can now view the fastest action flicks without any disturbance. The frames will be refreshed so fast that you won’t notice the change. There are 4 HDMI inputs also to connect to HD-compatible gadgets. Viewing photos will be possible on the large screen through the USB port. The Toshiba 40XV645U is certainly a good choice with the number of features it offers. The price is yet to be released but is expected to be reasonable enough to cater to the average customer.

YouReviewElectronics.com gives Toshiba 40XV645U 8/10 stars!

    Paid $570 at buydig.

    TV is good.
Seems a little darker then need be sometimes but still a good picture.

TV does glare a good bit so be sure that it wont be in a location with windows or doors at an angle that can glare. The gloss black area surrounding the picture also is highly polished and causes more glare.

As others have mentioned, it doesn’t have the greatest sound so you may want to add a surround sound system. Also, as mentioned, on one of the “Picture Size” settings, you well get a squiggly white snow line and this is definitely a defect that can be bothersome.

The Toshiba on the front is lit up and can be bothersome, and I haven’t found anything showing how to turn it off.

Overall, for the price, I’m happy with it.
