Sony KDL-52XBR6 reviewReview of Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR6: 52” 1080p LCD HDTV

The new entrant in the list of high definition televisions from Sony is the 52” widescreen KDL-52XBR6. It has the trademarked Sony Bravia engine for digital video processing. Sharp, colorful images light up the huge screen with an extremely reduced noise feature. The sleek black frame entices the onlooker immediately. A transparent plastic hugs the entire screen and gives way to a horizontal speaker bar at the base of the screen. This silver speaker grill is available in black, brown, red and gold colors also.

The XBR6 series has the capability to reproduce the deepest black through its ACE (Advanced Contrast Enhancer) circuit. Its dynamic backlight lends strength to a wide range of natural and vibrant colors. The number of viewable colors is twice that of a regular RGB color standard. A 10-bit display panel is integrated to provide an extremely wide variety of colors. Another prime aspect of the XBR6 series is the Motionflow 120 Hz anti-blur technology. This high refresh rate helps remove judder and provide a smooth transition in between frames for a more realistic viewing experience.

The remote control is a bit cumbersome for the user owing to its design and size. An important feature which attracts attention is the Digital Media Port connection which allows digital devices to be connected directly to the Sony KDL-52XBR6. Being DLNA compliant, the XBR6 can grab photos from compatible PCs. However, music and video cannot be accessed without connecting add-on modules like Bravia Internet Video Link through the DMex port. Provision is there to connect Sony cameras and flash memory drives to the USB port at the side.

The XCross Media Bar accelerates navigation between the menus, controls and settings. This user interface regularly updates the program listings in conjunction with TV Guide Interactive Program Guide providing the most sophisticated menu systems ever. Noise reduction settings, color temperature presets, picture presets and a theatre preset are all a part of this high definition TV.

The Bravia KDL-52XBR6 can be proclaimed to be one of the most energy-efficient high definition TV’s. It is Energy Star compliant and has optimum energy consumption. Priced between $2,995.00 and $3,699.99 MSRP, it is one of the strongest contender in the higher-end 1080p LCD market.

i love sony product for years until my family have issue with it. when i moved out on my own. i have SONY a second change. i buy sony new brand for all of my electronic/tech. use. got the Sony Media Player, works great, very easy to use, but i haven’t try all the feature yet. got the ps3 (used) 3month ago, now the pics/movie freeze for a couple second but the audio goes on. This happen every 2-3min. i don’t know if the issue is the sony tv or the blu-ray movie or the ps3 itself or need a more updated firm/software. i got several camera from sony because this all use the same battery and the memory stick. now the important of it all sony, the tv. i brought a 32 xbr sony a while back for $1000, retail $1500. i have no issue with it. i love it. i also went to Fry’s electronice and compare 12 lcd tv side by side with the sony. i am down to Sharp and sony, and i choose sony. This test is for the color/brightest/contrast, etc. 4months ago i brought a used sony kdl-46w4000. no issue with it yet, i use Vivid alot, barely use Standard and Cinama feature, i don’t like dark. i didn’t need to do picture setting. i love no issue with it. that tv was in the living room, now i move it in my bedroom, making room for my sony kdl-52xbr6 (used). got this tv about 3 month ago. yes as all other review described. i did alot of research on this tv xbr model. i all read the review on this site too. i was very impress and i some that are some down side. with this model it feature more black/dark color. i don’t like it much. i can’t see a thing when at night in the movie. rarely i read the manual, so i did. spend hours and hours of playing around with it. i ended set most of the feature “picture” to high, brightless to 6 out 10 because it become too wash out white. set it to vivid. not as bright as the sony kdl-46W4000. now the issue. as i mention it before about the picture freeze 2 to 2 sec for every 3-4min. now i starting to get, the glowing darker and brighest. just like the sun go down and goes back up. this happen when i watch the tv over 3 to 4 hours..this start to worry me. i spend $900 on it, notice it still selling for $3000 on amazon. ANY SUGGESTION OR ANYONE HAVE THIS PROBLEM same like me or know what’s wrong with this tv. email me at vinhvans@hotmail.com thanks
