I purchased a Sony KDL52EX700 that a Sony Rep told me that it had Picture in Picture (PIP). The description/specifications showed that it has PIP (PC input/TV Channel&CVBS). I was trying to display my Directv Satellite Picture in one picture (Connected to Component Input 2) and my Over the Air TV Picture (Connected to Cable/Antenna Input) in the other picture.

The following is apparently true for ALL Sony TV’s that show that they have PIP (PC input/TV Channel&CVBS). According to Sony Support, You CANNOT display a Directv Satellite or Cable Picture in one picture and an Over the Air TV Picture in the other picture on the TV. The reason you cannot do this is because you MUST have a Computer connected to the TV in order for PIP to work. That’s right, you MUST have a Computer connected to the TV in order for PIP to work. The computer input is what activates the PIP feature and is the Primary (Big Picture) while the TV Channel is the secondary (Small Picture).

Sony does not supply this information in their description or specifications, which is misleading as to what the PIP feature will support. Anyone who had PIP in the past knows that you was able to display a Cable or Directv Satellite Picture in one picture and a Over the Air TV Picture in the other picture and would believe you would be able to do this with the current Sony TV’s that states that it has PIP (PC input/TV Channel&CVBS).
