Sony KDL-46XBR9 Review – 46″ LCD TV

Up for review: Sony KDL-46XBR9. The new Bravia KDL-46XBR9 is Sony’s latest high-end XBR9 series of LCD HDTV that is set to be released this spring. Set with a speculated price of around $2199.00, this 46” XBR9 series LCD has many high-end features. To begin with, cold cathode fluorescent backlighting technology has been used in the new Sony KDL-46XBR9 LCD model which is likely to produce a wide color gamut. Sony Bravia Engine 3 technology is embedded in this new KDL-46XBR9 which will ensure improved image quality. 24p True Cinema support ensures movies can be experienced in its original 24frame per second format.

With 1080p native Resolution, image quality is expected to be at its best. In addition to this, Sony XBR9 range has an improved and fast Motionflow 240Hz refresh rate technology, where the frame rate has been quadrupled. This higher refresh rate is expected to deliver crispier and sharper images especially in fast motion scenes.

The new Sony KDL-46XBR9 is equipped with “widgets” courtesy of Yahoo. The electronics conglomerate claims to personalize the TV experience by adding real-time live info on weather reports, stock ticker updates, financial news, Yahoo Video, Flickr images and many more through this “widgets” feature. In fact Sony devised this XBR9 series to bring the Internet application to the television. This built-in Yahoo! Widget can be accessed with the Ethernet connection.

    Sony – KDL-46XBR9

We purchased this tv because my wife wanted a Sony and the name Sony tells you its a known brand name. Well, we bought all the top notch HDMI cables & Blue Ray DVD, & Suround sound. Everything sounds great but the picture is very bad. I dont know if the regular tv channels suppose to look better or what but they look worse than the $150 dollar tv I used to have and bought at Sam’s. I went to Comcast and got the HD box to go with it. If I watch the Blue Ray DVD then it looks great, but if I buy a sports even in HD, then you can see the motion flow, and its a 240Hz, its not supposed to have it!!! You are not supposed to see the flow. I even hear that with HD you will see even the wrinkles on people, Wow!!! Sony really kicked our but with sorry tv.
