Sony KDL-46EX600 Review: 46” LED LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Sony KDL-46EX600 LED LCD TV. Sony not only launched some high-end models in the expensive models range, but it also kept the average buyers in mind. Sony showcased its 3D HDTV range at the CES and even placed some of those at the Sony Style Stores for buyers to get a feel of the latest technology it has introduced. But for those who want to bring home a TV that comes at a lower price but has most of the latest features for an ideal entertainment device, Sony has introduced the KDL-EX series. Sony KDL-46EX600 is a pretty slim HDTV. Though the KDL line did take a back seat with all the humdrum about 3D ready HDTVs taking the lead but is perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to invest in any extra gadgets and just get some good TV watching experience.

Loaded with the in-built edge LED backlight LCD technology, Sony KDL-46EX600 comes with a smooth black finish with properly cut edges that give the TV a new and trendy look. For it large screen size and thinner body panel, it seems to outrun its other counter parts. However, the lack of internet connectivity in this model may prove to be a deterrent with more and more people eyeing to stream some quality content from online sources. With the Bravia Engine 2 Video Processing, viewers are solaced with clear and more defined picture quality along with Bravia SYNC, it provides a decent viewing experience with one remote operation.

Sony KDL-46EX600 Features and Specification Review:

  • LED edge light backlighting
  • 1080p Resolution
  • Motionflow 120Hz
  • Bravia Engine 2 Video Processing
  • Bravia SYNC
  • 24p Film Playback
  • USB and DLNA photo/music/video playback
  • Improved XMB Menu
  • 4 HDMI Inputs
  • PC Input

Placed on an average looking swivel, Sony KDL-46EX600 gives the viewers more depth and less wide body. The panel with its edge LED backlight LCD technology probably scores a bit higher with viewers enjoying the true flat panel. The ambient sensor as usual provides impeccable images with any type of room lighting conditions. Like all the latest HDTVs launched by Sony, it has 1080p high definition resolution that ensure blur free picture for a perfect viewing experience during the action paced movies. Its USB Media Player allows you to watch your favorite movies from any of your portable entertainment gadgets.

Expected to hit the stores in May 2010, Sony KDL-46EX600, is a step down from the KDL-EX700 which got released in March. But its relatively lower price and the brand name, buyers may actually get motivated without Sony giving in anything for free in real. If one really misses the wireless connectivity and internet options, the USB 2.0 and the PC input options provide the viewers with a bit more considerate and increased options other than the set-top box or DVD or Blu-ray player. But for those who are not all that fussy about the high-end connectivity options, then the TV provides an upright home entertainment environment.
