Sony KDL-26EX300 Review: 26” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Sony KDL-26EX300 LCD TV. There are many people who want to add excitement to their living room by introducing a really fancy HDTV to suit the ambiance of the room. But at the same time, they also think about introducing entertainment options in some of the other rooms as well. This is where Sony expects to rake in the profits by providing this basic HDTV model as a second option in the houses. It can serve to give you a glimpse of the last few minutes of a rugby match even when you are cooking a quick lunch for your kids. It will also prove to be of great use in the dorm that you share at times with your friends.

Since you are expecting to buy a Sony TV for a minimal price, you can’t expect anything more than 720p display resolution. And it is not as if 720p provides dismal picture quality. In fact, most of the standard programs aired on the TV are in 720p and so you will always get to see 720p even if you purchase a TV with 1080p resolution. However, the movies from Blu-ray disc players have a completely different story to relate. Since they are in 1080p, you might have to compromise with the picture quality while watching them. But with the very small screen size of 26-inch, the difference might be negligible.

Sony KDL-26EX300 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 26-inch display
  • 720p display resolution
  • 178 degree viewing angle
  • 8W x 2 output power
  • Simulated surround sound
  • Bravia Sync

The TV has a great viewing angle of 178 degrees which will allow you to watch the pictures from any part of the room without having to deal with haziness and color fading. You don’t have to fight with your wife for the central seat in the house to get a good view. The same is the case with the audio too. With simulated surround sound feature, you can hear the dialogues and music clearly even if you are seated a bit away from the TV. With the newly upgraded engine, there is no doubt about its performance and picture quality.

Since the connectivity options are good with 4 HDMI and 1 USB port, you can connect a host of high definition and digital devices. Watching movies will be a pleasure with a Blu-ray disc player and so will be connecting the digital camera to view the photos on the large screen. With the Bravia Sync function, you can control all these connected devices with one remote. This will save you from the confusion of having to deal with a number of remotes at a time. Since this TV is clearly meant to be a second one in the house, it gives great value for money.
