Sharp continues to be one of the top manufacturers of flat panel TV with their always impressive picture quality and features. The LC52D62U has a new and very stylish exterior with a two-tone black and gray exterior. The exterior bezel is the very popular piano black and the gray lines the bottom and houses the 2 speakers. The Sharp LC52D62U has some very impressive qualities some also a few negatives you’ll want to be aware of before spending a good chunk of money.

The Sharp LC-52D62U displays probably the best black levels of any LCD on the market today. Contrast ratio numbers vary from manufacturer to manufacturer so you can’t completely depend on what they say. However, the LC52D62U contrast ratio is very impressive and ultimately gives you a great picture. There are a few minor issues that prevent it from being the best LCD available. The color temperature is inaccurate, in some scenes you may notice strange bands running across the screen and it lacks a few basics like PC compatibility and picture-in-picture which may or may not be important to you. The list price for this HDTV is a little outrageous at nearly $4,000 but it can be found for much less. You’ll definitely want to shop around if looking for this TV; we’ve found it as low as $2200. Overall, the LC-52D62U by Sharp is a better than average set. It has a few minor annoyances that a real HDTV aficionado may detect but for the average viewer, this HDTV will look amazing.
