Sharp LC-52D82U Review: 52” LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Sharp LC-52D82U LCD TV. A pleasure to watch with a black lacquer finish and a silver banding to add a touch of sophistication, this HDTV is an upgraded version of the D62 series. Sharp comes across as a serious contender for the best video flat panel. Its constant efforts to improve the lacunae in LCD panels have paid off with better response rate times, black levels and viewing angles in this model. This set graduates to the next level with a clever inclusion of Advanced Super View/Black TFT panel with multi-pixel technology. You get a superb dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1 which does wonders for the black levels.
The Sharp LC-52D82U has 120 Hz frame rate conversion which is not quite the same as the refresh rate. Although it does make the action scenes quite exciting, but the blurring and lagging behind of pixels can still be improved upon. The 4 ms response time is very good for the fast motion sequences. The wide viewing angle of 176 degrees is favorable for any seat in the room. There is no washing out of color at the edges and you can see the pictures with equal clarity even at off-angles.
Sharp LC-52D82U Features and Specifications Review:
- 52” display
- 120 Hz frame rate conversion
- 3 HDMI
- 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
- 4 ms response time
- ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner
- 1080p display resolution
- 176 degrees viewing angle
- Advanced Super View/Black TFT panel
This TV is integrated with ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner which enables you to watch all free-to-air fare on the TV. But if you want to view all the encrypted channels, you have to opt for an optional set top box which requires you to pay a subscription every month. But there are a lot of free channels which you can view with no extra cost. The display resolution of this TV is 1080p which accounts for excellent picture quality. There may be a rise in the price due to this, which is worth it when you get to watch refreshing quality on Blu-ray disc players. The movies and the gaming experience are above reproach.
There are all of 3 HDMI for using high definition devices like Blu-ray disc players, camcorders and gaming consoles. There are 2 component video inputs too. The connectivity options are good but a TV does look great when it is wall mounted and is totally wireless. You can wall mount this TV too and it will look like an interesting moving picture on the walls. But it has a long way to go before it can go wireless. The sound quality is good with bottom mounted speakers which add to the looks of the TV. For a sum of $1,999.99 MSRP, it is a good set to possess.
