Sharp LC-46E77U: 46″ LCD HDTV Review
Up for review: Sharp LC-46E77U LCD TV. The new E77U Series LCD’s from Sharp are much advanced than its earlier E67U Series. The new E77U Series not only offer many advanced features as far as video, audio or connectivity is concerned, it also features a new design that is sure to complement any kind of room decor. The black cabinet of Sharp LC-46E77U blends elegantly into to a soft champagne gold hue which gives an accentuated look at the bottom of the frame thus portraying both modern and traditional outlook.
Slated to be available in February 2009 with a price of around $2,099.99, the new Sharp LC-46E77U LCD HDTV posses many high-end advanced technological features. With Sharp’s new 10-bit ASV Superlucent panel and 10-bit processing engine, the E77U Series LC-46E77U LCD model can seamlessly achieve the maximum expression of the Full-HD 1080p picture resolution.
The Superlucent panel offers smother image viewing with minimized image gloss and intensifying brightness. The ASV panel with Spectral Contrast Engine XD technology with a high dynamic contrast ratio delivers vibrant colors with deeper blacks. The new LC-46E77U is embedded with Sharp’s innovative Fine Motion Enhanced technology for 120Hz Frame Rate Conversion whose dejudder feature takes care of smooth reproduction of film content minus any artifacts. And a fast pixel response time of 4ms further keeps images smooth even in the midst of high-speed motion.
Besides these, the 46 inch LC-46E77U has Sharp’s innovative Optical Picture Control (OPC) feature which automatically adjusts luminance according to the room lighting conditions.

Like Sharp’s previous LCD models, the new LC-46E77U has minimalist use of hazardous chemicals such as lead, mercury and cadmium. The E77U Series LCD model is also Energy Star 3.0 compliant, a trademark of the Environmental Protection Agency.
The E77U Series LCD’s offer even more connectivity options than its predecessors. With 5 HDMI™ (1.3 inputs), 2 Component Inputs, there is ample connectivity provisions in the new LC-46E77U LCD model. All the inputs are 1080p compatible which means high definition signals from Blu-ray and advanced gaming devices can be accessed seamlessly. Even movies with their original 24p input capability can be enjoyed in the new Sharp LC-46E77U.
Besides this, an additional PC input is there which facilitates the use of LCD as a PC monitor. Another RS-232 port is also there for custom installations. And the built-in ATSC, QAM and NTSC tuners helps easy access of DTV and analog TV channels. Though there is no specification about the viewing angle, the 46” screen provides ample viewing provision in midsize to large rooms. Overall, the new Sharp LC-46E77U seems to be a good performance LCD with so many interactive as well as high-end features.
