Sharp LC-42BD80U: 42″ LCD HDTV Review

Up for review: Sharp LC-42BD80U LCD TV. The Sharp LC-42BD80U is the midsize LCD model of the new Aquos BD80U series. Just like its earlier LCD model, Sharp has taken care to manufacture environmentally friendly products with this new BD80U series. Use of harmful chemicals such as lead, mercury and cadmium has been virtually eliminated in this new BD80U series LCD model. The new LC-42BD80U is also Energy Star v3.0 compliant; great product for those trying to stay green.

With the launch of the new Aquos BD80U series LC-42BD80U, Sharp has introduced the concept of  a built -n Blu-ray Player. It combines the convenience of an all-in-one home theater solution and also solves the space constraint problem. With the Sharp LC-42BD80U around, you won’t require a separate disc player to enjoy the high definition content anymore. However, it’s yet to be seen if the built-in Blu-ray is fully Profile 2.0 compatible or not. The loading of Blu-ray discs is much faster as compared to other Blu-ray models. Just inserting the disc on the side panel will enable the LCD to turn on into playback mode.

With Full HD 1080p resolution, the Sharp LC-42BD80U delivers spectacular high-definition image quality. Sharp’s new Superlucent Advanced Super View (ASV) anti-glare panel adjusts the brightness and thus produces dramatically brighter and crisper picture output. Its 10-Bit Panel offer more vibrant color production. And an innovative AQUOS Pure Mode senses the aspect ratio of the Blu-ray title and optimizes the TV’s view mode automatically. As a result, the HD picture quality appears at its best.

The built-in Blu ray disc player of the new Sharp LC-42BD80U is also backward-compatible with the standard DVD’s. Sharp’s 120Hz Fine Motion dejudder processing enables the LC-42BD80U LCD HDTV to deliver ultimate fast-motion image processing. As a result, amazing picture quality with accurate details is available in the new LCD. This dejudder processing feature is the new addition in the BD80U series.

The 42 inch Sharp LC-42BD80U features high-performance speakers with 20 watts including built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners; hence audio output quality is no doubt superb. The built-in tuners also facilitate access to DTV and analog TV channels.

The Six 1080p compatible inputs including 4 HDMI (v1.3), 2 Component, 1S-Video, 1 RS-232C and 1Composite video Input takes care of every type of connectivity issue in the new Sharp LC-42BD80U. In addition, there is a PC input which enables the LCD to serve as a PC monitor.

All-in-all, there are some great features of this TV but the most importantly, the TV will produce a great image.
