Sharp LC-40E77U Review: 40″ LCD HDTV

Up for review: Sharp LC-40E77U LCD TV. The new LC-40E77U is part of Sharp’s E77U Series LCD TV’s.  Sharp has unveiled its new E Series which is split into E77U and E67U Series. Unlike its processor the BD Series, the new E Series don’t have on board Blu-ray players, but they are equipped with many other technologically advanced features.

To begin with, the new E77U Series have Advanced Super View (ASV) anti-glare panel. As per Sharp’s claims, the extra coating used on the LCD panels will reduce lighting reflections while maintaining a crisp image quality. As compared to the conventional dejudder processing, the Sharp LC-40E77U has 120Hz refresh rate embedded with Fine Motion Enhanced technology, which is expected to take care of any motion blur from 1080p resolution content. And a fast pixel response time of 4ms is most likely to ensure that you can enjoy your high definition content scene by scene without any image artifacts. All high definition movies can be watched in their true 24p format.

The new Sharp LC-40E77U LCD HDTV is slated to be available in March this year with a price of around $1,399.99.

The new Sharp LC-40E77U features even more advanced features besides the above mentioned image improvised techniques. It’s Spectral Contrast Engine XD and high dynamic contrast ratio is likely to produce scintillating images with whiter whites and darker blacks. The Optical Picture Control (OPC) feature is responsible to automatically adjust the image brightness according to the room lighting condition. And the 10bit panel is likely to deliver more vibrant color.

With 5 HDMI™(v1.3) inputs, 2 Component video inputs, a dedicated PC input and RS-232 port, there seems to be ample of connectivity options in the new Sharp LC-40E77U. All the inputs are 1080p compatible, means high definition signals from advanced Blu-ray and advanced gaming devices can be accessed seamlessly. There is no specification available about the audio quality.

Like Sharp’s earlier products, the LC-40E77U is also an environmentally friendly LCD with minimal usage of hazardous chemicals such as lead, mercury and cadmium during its manufacture. What’s more, the LCD is also certified with US Govt.’s Energy Star 3.0 for its energy saving feature. The black cabinet with a blend of a soft champagne gold hue at the bottom of the frame gives the LCD an elegant look which fits perfectly to any kind of room décor.
