Samsung UN55B6000 Review: 55” LED HDTV

Up for Review: Samsung UN55B6000 LED TV. This is definitely a high-end TV with a high-end price which you can expect with the latest technology, LED TV. Although you can still get an equally good TV for a lesser amount of money, you will not get the new fancy features which set this TV apart. The problem with this set is the fluctuating backlight which surely needs to be improved upon. Priced at $3599.00 (often on sale for under $3000 at Amazon.com), this set is a bit on the costlier side. But connoisseurs will surely buy it to improve the look of the living room.

Measuring just 1.2 inches deep, this HDTV is among the slimmest TVs being promoted this year. The intention of most manufacturers is to include as many novel features as possible while cutting down on the depth. And this small depth makes it look like a pretty picture when mounted on the walls. It looks equally good on its great looking stand, with a hint of red shining from the bezel. The transparent edge further lends a classic look to the TV. You also have the liberty to swivel the TV on its stand and fiddle round with the settings. This also helps in providing a better view from any seat in the house.

Edge-lit LED backlighting forms the main feature of this HDTV. The Samsung UN55B6000 is edge-lit instead of using the local dimming technology of other models. Another basic difference between these set and other higher-end sets is the use of Yahoo widgets. This makes the TV less interactive. But there is still provision for InfoLink Service which provides vital information through the Internet. News, stocks and weather are easily accessible though the InfoLink service.

The Samsung UN55B6000 has 120 Hz refresh rate and dejudder processing. There are a host of picture adjustments including five color temperature presets, three noise reduction capabilities and several other controls to make the images look really outstanding. There are even three power saver modes which conserve a lot of energy. Besides the E-manual, there is also a customer care screen which has the firmware version. This is very useful when you want to contact the company for any service or complaints. Connectivity is also good with 4 HDMI, 2 USB ports and VGA interface for using the TV as a computer monitor. The overall performance of this HDTV fulfills all expectations and is a good device to invest money in.
