Samsung LN52A860 Review: 52″ 1080p LCD TVSamsung LN52A860 Reviews

Up for review: Samsung LN52A860. Samsung’s latest 52″ 1080p LCD HDTV model, the LN52A860, seems to be the thinnest large-screen LCD panel available in market being only 1.9-inches deep. It is wafer-thin in appearance, but also loaded with features and cutting edge technologies.

To give a true film-like experience especially for action-packed movies and high speed sports, this LCD TV has Auto Motion Plus 120HZ™ refresh rate technology and a blazing-fast 4ms panel-response time without any typical motion blur. Along with its wide-color-gamut LED backlight which reproduces lifelike images, the new Samsung LN52A860 is also embedded with a wide variety of enhanced video technologies.

Priced around $2,699.99, the new LN52A860 offers a variety of connectivity options. With 4 HDMI v1.3 inputs, built-in digital ATSC and NTSC analog tuners, and Clear QAM cable TV tuner, you can experience the pleasure of watching high-definition video from any source, with or without a set-top box.

The DVD up convert feature of this LCD TV is so hot that it looks like the real deal. It’s a treat to watch your favorite Blu-Ray or regular DVD on this TV. Even in absence of full surround sound setup, you can still get a rich sound from the LN55A960 with its SRS TruSurround XT™ loaded with SRS technology.

With several layers of settings that have different priorities, the settings menu is confusing. Certain settings can even be achieved in multiple ways. Another small annoyance is the PIP function which is not available when you watch TV. The Internet integration is also a bit disappointing. Based on the possibilities, it provides the basic connectivity.

But overall, the core pieces like picture quality on the new LN52A860 are good. Combining unique Touch of Color bezel design with the latest technology, the Samsung LN52A860 brings you a performance worth watching.
