Samsung LN22B460 Review: 22” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Samsung LN22B460 LCD TV. Samsung has included models to suit every budget and need. With this smaller version of the HDTV, it tries to woo the people who would love to buy an HDTV but cannot spare the funds for it. By creating a model which is quite reasonable in price and bearing the Samsung name, the manufacturers aim to rake in profits from the people with a tight budget. Besides these people, there may be some who want a second TV in the house for the kitchen or the office room. This 22” display is just right for those cramped up spaces.

There is absolutely no compromise in the picture quality with the Wide Color Enhancer2 technology and the 15,000:1 contrast ratio. The colors are varied and of many shades. This brings out the natural beauty of the skin tones. With there being efficient black levels, the dark and light areas of the scenes are properly highlighted. Not only does the picture look clear and natural, it also gets refreshed quite fast. There is a response time of 8 ms which allows the frames to replace themselves pretty fast leading to absence of blurring.

The inclusion of a built-in HDTV tuner makes life easier for the viewer. You no longer have to purchase a set top box and pay a monthly subscription to view the channels. All the free-to-air channels can be seen without adding a set-top box. If you want to see all the encrypted channels, then you will have to pay a higher amount for this. With 720p resolution, the programs can be viewed with great clarity. Because of the 720p resolution, you will also get the HDTV for a lesser price.

Sound effects take a back seat with two 3 W speakers. Nevertheless, there is still the surround sound effect which will compensate for any laxity in power. The larger models have much greater power behind their sound but 3W will suffice for a screen size of 22 inches. Connectivity is also good with 1 HDMI, 1 component, 1 composite and 1 PC input. You can connect your high definition devices to the TV and have a great time watching them. For a price of $379.99, this HDTV is a good buy.
