Memorex MLT1921 Review: 19” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Memorex MLT1921 LCD TV. This HDTV is somewhat average looking as far as the current HDTV market goes. It rests on a pretty sturdy stand. This set also has the option to be hung on the wall but additional equipment would need to be purchased. The price tag of $249.99 is pretty good in view of the enhanced picture quality and advanced features.

There is a built-in ATSC tuner which is able to telecast the digital signals. You don’t need a separate box to convert from analog to digital. The integration of an HDMI makes it easy to connect high definition devices like camcorders, Blu-ray players and gaming devices. The Memorex MLT1921 has a quick response of 5 ms which is essential for clear and blur-free images. Together with a good refresh rate, this set makes it possible to view pictures without any lagging. The 3D comb filter also helps in giving good picture quality.

The resolution is 1440 x 900 which is quite good for a display size of 19 inches. Of course, nobody can dispute the picture quality of 1080p, but the given resolution is also good because most of the programs are telecast in 720p. Only the movies viewed on the DVD player or the games on the gaming devices may not be up to the mark. The contrast ratio can still be improved being only 850:1. The black levels are good, but sometimes in some scenes, you feel the necessity of seeing better black levels.

Connectivity is good with 1 HDMI and 1 PC VGA input. This allows the HDTV to be used as a computer monitor. The presence of a component video input, composite video input and S-video input also adds to the input options. Additionally, the remote control is an asset to the good looks of the TV. It is nicely designed with good buttons, making a good fit in the hand. The Memorex MLT1921 is good enough to be used in small rooms or as a second TV. It will make a good investment.
