LG 47LH85 Review: 47″ LCD HDTV

Up for review: LG 47LH85 47-inch LCD TV. LG has introduced the LH85 Series of LCD’s for 2009 and the new 47LH85 is looking like it will be one of LG’s premiere TV’s. With the new LG 47LH85, the electronic conglomerate has introduced the wireless feature. No more clogging of cables, a separate media box is available which will facilitate the access of wireless transmission. Through 60GHz radio and the multi-element antenna array, uncompressed 1080p content without wires can be accessed in this wireless capability feature. This is a great new feature as a jungle of cables dangling from the back of a television often detracts the beauty of high definition home entertainment system.

Equipped with Full HD 1080p and TruMotion 120Hz refresh rate, the new LG 47LH85 HDTV is expected to deliver enhanced image quality. However, unlike some of its other models, this LH85 Series lack the 240Hz effective response rate feature. 240Hz coupled with TruMotion technology not only produced superlative picture quality, it also does up-conversion of the high definition content without a separate DVD or Blu-ray player. However, this higher refresh rate feature is a bit overrated considering the fact that unwanted background info can also be accessed. Besides that, 120Hz has been observed to be satisfactory viewing high-def content, sports programming and gaming content in earlier models.

The LG 47LH85 is due to arrive in the market by Spring/Summer 2009. LG is yet to announce the price of this new LCD model. Before getting into some other striking features of this high-end HDTV model, some key specifications which have been highlighted below:

Many of LG’s energy saving features have been embedded in the 47” LH85 Series LCD model. The LCD boasts super-in plane switching (S-IPS) LCD panel technology, which is known to deliver advanced color contrast and faster response times. Besides this, one of LG’s core technologies, Intelligent Room Lighting Sensor has been used  This Intelligent Sensor will automatically adjust the brightness in accordance with the room lighting condition. For its smart energy saving features, this model is certified with Energy Star 3.0.

The LG 47LH85 has 4 HDMI 1.3 inputs with Deep Color features to get connected with the external devices. Besides this, an additional USB 2.0 port is there to access digital music and photos. LG’s proprietary Simplink feature facilitates access to compatible cameras and camcorders. The LCD is also ISFccc ready. LG hasn’t given a clear specification about the audio quality except the clear voice feature.
