LG 47LH55 Review: 47″ LCD HDTV

Up for review: LG 47LH55 47-inch LCD TV.  LG has once again promised its fans, exclusive 12 new HDTV lines, to be introduced in March 2009. LG has in store nine new LCD HDTV lines, and three plasma lines.  The whole series covers an extensive range in sizes from the smallest 19-inches to the grand 60-inches. LG does a very nice job in the LH55 series with Full 1080p, 4 HDMI inputs, and 5ms response times, a 15, 000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and the new ISFccc ready calibration system for easy calibration and menu settings. LG’s Intelligent Sensor room light sensing technology and a 24p film playback are the remarkable great features.

The LG 47LH55 LCD TV, like others HDTV’s in its range, features LED backlighting for improved contrast and energy saving along with wireless technology and TruMotion 240Hz. You also get Ethernet access providing information and content directly through the Internet. There will also be no shortage of content with partners like Netflix, YouTube and Yahoo.

The 240Hz TruMotion technology should be a useful feature for hyper action gaming facilities. In 2009 this new feature incorporates a novel scanning backlight technique meant to improve motion picture response time. This technology is the answer to motion lag which has been a repeated and nagging problem for LCD TV’s over the years.

In line with other LG HDTV’s models, the LG 47LH55 also offers extensive picture controls. It supports the same full color management controls and 10-point IRE system which we have already appreciated in the 2008 models. A new “picture wizard” which utilizes a series of onscreen test patterns to alleviate user calibration is also available in this model. LG also highlights the power saving feature of LED technology, and the LH55 series also offers a “intelligent” room lighting sensor that helps to automatically adjust the picture and improve efficiency.

The LG LH55 series supports wireless technology, which means no more annoying cables, and easier installation processes. Energy Star 3.0 specifications can be found in all models. The LG 47LH55 also uses a Super In Plane Switching (S-IPS) LCD panel structure which enables better colors and faster response times, as well as sharper contrast and great viewing angles.

Scheduled to arrive in the market during March this year, the LG 47LH55 isn’t exactly cheap but has features that have never been seen before.   In-spite of the price factor, this unit from LG should positively brighten up your living room!
