LG 42LH90 Review: 42″ LCD HDTV

Up for review: LG 42LH90 LCD TV. The new LG 42LH90 is a 42-inch LCD HDTV model from the LG’s recently launched LH90 Series. The LCD boasts a super-slim panel and is less than 1-inch thick. Equipped with many high-end features, the LCD is sure to create a strong buzz in market upon its arrival which is expected in summer 2009. LG is yet to disclose the price of this new LG 42LH90, but with so many advanced features, most probably it won’t be cheap.

Equipped with LED backlights with local dimming, LG sets the target to stand near the top of the company’s HDTV lineup. LED backlit backed by local dimming adjusts parts of the picture selectively and thus improve the black-level performance. As a result viewing darker scenes can now be equally enjoyable.

Apart from the basic Full HD 1080p resolution, LG has introduced the TruMotion 240 Hz refresh rate in the new LH90 Series. As compared to the conventional dejudder processing, this higher refresh rate is most likely to produce superior image quality minus any artifacts. As the refresh rate is double than the standard 120Hz LCD, the new 42LH90 seems to deliver much clearer images without any motion blur. The higher refresh rate also does up-conversion job while watching high definition content, so a separate up-converting DVD or Blu-ray player is not required but still looks great.

LG is sure to improve the color contrast even further with a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 2,000,000:1. Like LG”s other 2008 models, this new LCD has extensive picture controls including the 10-point IRE system and full color management controls. The new LG 42LH90 also boasts a picture wizard feature which is expected to use a series of onscreen test patterns to ease the user calibration. And the 24p Real Cinema with 5:5 Pulldown menus will facilitate the viewer to enjoy movies in their true format without any compromise on the quality. Some key specification points of the new LG 42LH90 is highlighted as follows.

Led backlit tv causes permanent eye damage!
After having vision problems after purchasing a LG LED-backlit TV unit (without knowing nothing about LEDs) I made a research now on LED backlit technology and since the LED lights are directed towards the viewer, watching a LED-backlit TV screen creates a direct health hazard to every viewer. I personally noticed that on my eyes vision after few months of watching LG Model # 42LH90 with LED-backlit screen and my vision became much worse, I need new glasses and my eyes now get tired just a few minutes after watching this TV. The screen is way too bright to watch it with covering one’s eyes when it goes bright. I now turned the LED lights completely off and the TV picture is dark and ugly, but this is the only way I can watch it now.

As we know it is dangerous to look at LED lights for longer than 90 seconds! Yet LG made a TV with thousands of LED lights directed right at your eyes! Every LED light fixture has a WARNING to not look directly into the LED lights yet LG has made a TV set with the entire screen full of LED lights (emitting white light with enough blue light to impair or damage one’s vision) and no warning about any impact of LED lights to your vision. How can that be SAFE?

When I called LG management, they refused to exchange this LED-backlit TV into a safe non-LED TV unit. I did not want my money back or any damages, just another, safe TV unit, yet LG declined my request.

Also I must mention that LG website is a joke. When trying to access “contact us” on LG website it leads to a failed page and while trying to leave a review there is no way to do it, although the text says you can leave a review, there is NO link or button whatsoever to do that and then it says: “Thanks for being a customer!”

BEWARE: WATCHING LED-BACKLIT TV SCREEN PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE MAY OCCUR!

An electronics website has problems? then how good are their TVs if they can’t even take care of their website?

    LIFE’S GOOD… FOR LG.
