LG 37LH55 Review: 37″ LCD HDTV

Up for review: LG 37LH55 37-inch LCD TV. The LG 37LH55 is the smallest LCD HDTV from LG’s LH55 Series for 2009. Like others in the range it supports a native resolution of 1080p, an ultra-fast 240Hz refresh rate and four HDMI inputs. The LG 37LH55 highlights are LED backlit displays, Netflix access and 240Hz refresh rates. Many LCD manufacturers are using LED backlights more in 2009 because they consume less power and have improved picture.

LG’s new alliances with Yahoo!, Netflix and You Tube allow consumers to enjoy even more content from the comfort of their home, via. You can use the Yahoo! Widget Engine for access to up-to-the minute weather reports, stock quotes, Flickr photos, and more. LG HDTV’s will be the first to offer instant streaming from Netflix and will also enable access to the vast array of user-generated content on YouTube directly on the LH50 and PS80 series. TV’s will be connected via ethernet cable. Netcast support will also allow in-network streaming to the TV in the home with support for DivX and MKV codecs.

LGs 240Hz technology features scanning backlight that outperforms other 240Hz methods.  240Hz models apparently deliver better motion blur reduction and crystal clear images. TruMotion 240Hz uses a unique scanning backlight technique to improve motion picture response time with a more natural picture which should be interesting for action junkies. Faster refresh rates are generally considered to provide better performance with fast moving scenes.
