JVC LT-47P789 Review: 47” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: JVC LT-47P789 LCD TV. JVC has included the powerful iPod docking technology in most of its models in this line. JVC LT-47P789 is no exception. This is the main point of interest in this HDTV. With iPod being a device used by most of the people, this feature is bound to make the JVC LT-47P789 a runaway hit. The flip-down dock called the Teledock has been accommodated below the display and the iPod can be safely placed here to be used by you. All the music, videos and photos can be viewed on the HDTV screen. You can also get to see the name of the album and other details while the song is being played.

A review shows that the JVC LT-47P789 is an entry level HDTV without many features included in the high-end sets. However, it does retain the 1080p resolution making the picture quality quite pleasant. The outer design is good with a smooth black bezel supported on a rectangular stand. There are two speakers camouflaged below the display on either side of the JVC logo. The Teledock is also situated here. The iPod can also be left here to be charged at all times.

The left side of the panel contains all the important controls like volume, channel, power and menu. All the major inputs are at the rear of the TV. This includes 3 HDMI, 2 component video, 1 RF input, 1 S-video and 2 component video inputs. The absence of a PC input indicates that the HDTV cannot be used as a computer monitor. The remote is also quite large but the buttons are well arranged.

A review shows that the video set-up options in the JVC LT-47P789 also do not match up to the standards of the high-end models. There are the usual 4 picture controls and 3 color temperature modes. It also includes adjustable backlight and noise reduction features. The black levels are alright but can still be improved upon.

The audio of the JVC LT-47P789 has 4 preset sound modes together with a user mode and a equalizer for personalizing the sound. Although it has a surround sound, the effect is not very encouraging. As far as the colors are concerned, the shades are pretty natural. It gives fairly accurate images. The performance of the JVC LT-47P789 is quite good in all aspects. Buying it for $2,199.99 MSRP will not be a bad investment.
