Insignia NS-LDVD26Q-10A Review: 26″ LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Insignia NS-LDVD26Q-10A LCD TV. Not to be left behind in the race to capture the HDTV market, Insignia has introduced the built-in DVD player along with the HDTV to allow the viewers to enjoy watching movies too. With 720p display resolution, the movies are quite enjoyable. However, 1080p resolution would certainly have provided a better effect with the images in the movies looking all the more natural and crisp. 720p is very good for viewing all the programs telecast on the TV but when movies are concerned, it certainly should be given a back seat. But it does allow you to buy the HDTV for a lesser price.
The sound is another positive aspect in this HDTV. By including the sound leveler and two 5W stereo speakers the audio keeps your interest alive. You will be able to hear the music and the dialogues clearly even if you are far away from the TV. Besides the terrific sound is the great viewing angle. 176 degree is quite enough to allow you to get a decent view of the TV from any angle and distance in the room. The colors are quite consistent at the edges. The picture quality gets a fresh impetus with the superb variety of colors and the great contrast ratio of 2500:1. The black levels are pretty decent but can also do with a little improvement.

With children having access to all types of content, it is becoming increasingly important to provide a check for them. The Insignia NS-LDVD26Q-10A provides the V-chip parental control which helps you to select the channels which you can allow your children to see. You can also have access to all the free-to-air channels through the built-in HDTV tuner. There is no need to loosen your purse strings as you will have quite a lot of free content to view. An additional set top box will only be required if you want to view the encrypted channels.
You can mount this TV on the walls but since it is much more than an inch deep, it will look better on the stand. A TV will look good on the walls only if it has a great bezel, is around 1” in depth and is totally wireless. However, connectivity options are good in this TV which has 3 HDMI. This is indeed very good considering that it is only a 26” TV. The HDMI can be used to connect high definition devices like the camcorder and the gaming console. Since there is already a built-in DVD player, you don’t need to connect a separate one. Unfortunately, there is no USB port. But this TV is good enough for people who want to buy a good HDTV for a low price.
