Dynex DX-LDVD22-10A Review: 22″ LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Dynex DX-LDVD22-10A LCD TV. This Dynex HDTV’s main feature is a built-in DVD player. This feature is particular useful if you’re looking to put this TV in an unusual spot like the kitchen, child’s room, etc. where you may not have room to put an additional DVD player.  However, you should keep in mind that if the TV or DVD player fails to work in the future, you are out both pieces of equipment.

The 350 cd/m² brightness and 800:1 contrast ratio are good values keeping in mind that the Dynex DX-LDVD22-10A is only a 22” HDTV. The pictures are pretty sharp with an even tone in the colors. There is also a 3D Y/C digital comb filter which makes sure that all the noise in the scenes is filtered out. There may be a hint of compromise in the black levels with there being a certain lack of picture quality at the edges. However, you can get a pretty good view if you are in front of the TV. The brightness is of course, quite enough to provide clear, vivid and crisp images.

The built-in HDTV tuner comes to the rescue for those who don’t want to invest in a separate set top box. You can view all the free-to-air channels without investing in the monthly subscription that is needed. But if you want to enjoy the encrypted channels which generally have more interesting fare on offer, you have to get the set top box. And of course, the sound is a primary concern in HDTVs which is decent enough in this set. There are 2 built-in 3W stereo speakers. There is however, an absence of the surround sound effects which fill the room with sound and enable you to hear the audio, no matter where you sit in the room.

There is 1 HDMI which makes it possible to connect high definition devices to the HDTV. There is also a PC input which makes it possible to convert the HDTV into a computer monitor and do all the work on a high definition display. There are however, no USB ports to connect digital devices. But you can keep your children away from certain channels by making use of the V-chip parental controls. The Dynex DX-LDVD22-10A is quite handy and has all the basic features which are required in any HDTV. For a price of $279.99 MSRP, it will make a worthy buy.
