Coby TFDVD3297 Review: 32” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Coby TFDVD3297 LCD TV. This is a fairly large-sized HDTV from Coby. But it still incorporates the slot-loading DVD player at the side of the TV. This feature helps to provide an in-built device to watch movies, besides viewing television programs on the same set. The price is also very attractive at $429.99 MSRP. The thin and sleek bezel makes the HDTV more attractive. The outer design is very much in keeping with the latest HDTV designs from the giants in this market. There is not much on the front panel except for the company logo in the middle.

A sturdy stand supports the Coby TFDVD3297 but a review shows that the HDTV can also be mounted on the wall. It looks quite good on the walls but the cables create a mess. Nothing can be compared with the look of a wireless TV on the walls. But the TV certainly tries to excel in the world market by incorporating three different languages of English, French and Spanish. Additionally, an Infrared remote makes sure that all the devices connected can be controlled with a single remote.

Coby TFDVD3297 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 32” display
  • 1366 x 768 display resolution
  • 700:1 contrast ratio
  • 8 ms pixel response time
  • 3D digital comb filter
  • V-chip control
  • NTSC/ATSC tuner
  • Infrared remote control
  • 2 speakers of 20W
  • HDMI
  • VGA interface

Connectivity is quite good with a host of inputs and outputs. There are 1 component video and 2 composite video inputs, 1 S-video input and also 1 digital audio output. The presence of an HDMI connection makes sure that you can watch videos on a camcorder and play computer games with a gaming console connected through it. A VGA interface also allows you to use the HDTV as a computer monitor.

The picture quality on the Coby TFDVD3297 is quite decent with a 1366 x 768 resolution. Although it falls short of the 1080p resolution images, the pictures are still quite clear and crisp. A 3D comb filter takes care of the noise in the TV. It makes sure that there is no distortion in the images. A pixel response time of 8 ms is fine but a faster rate would have ensured more fluidity in the pictures. The image contrast ratio also needs improvement at 700:1. The black levels can be much better.

But if you want a TV which will give you complete entertainment at a relatively low cost, then the Coby TFDVD3297 is the one for you.

YouReviewElectronics.com gives Coby TFDVD3297 8/10 stars!

Extremely poor speakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Outside of the ten cent speakers the rest of the unit is very good. I have seen this in other TV unit. Why build a good TV and put a ten cent speaker in it.

My second remote control just stopped working. I have only had the tv since October, 2010. The television itself is okay, but why does the remote give out so quickly? Needs a fix!

Blue power light would not light up , and could not get ch. 3 with the remote or on the tv controls. I am returning the 32″ back to sears and buying a more expensive. Tv.

After about a year the screen goes black and white no color. The television has to be turned off and then back on to get the color back. I won’t even mention the sound!!!!! This unit was a gift so taking it back not an option. Have had my fill of Coby never again!
