With a maximum retail price of $749, this 32-inch, 720p set improves upon the smaller models in the series with a 8,000:1 contrast ratio, much better brightness, and a response time of 6 ms, which makes it much more suitable for gaming and use as a PC monitor. Samsung LN26A330 LCD HDTV Review
Another member of the Samsung’s new Series 4, Samsung LN26A330 offers a full 26-inch of viewable screen, with very good aesthetics and plenty of connectivity options. And it doesn’t hurt when you couple it with the amazing picture quality and clarity this liquid-crystal display offers. Retailing for $699, this 720p set comes in Samsung’s signature bezel-black finish offering a very decent 5000:1 contrast ratio, with an 8 ms response time. A 26-inch screen size is a good sweet spot for those looking for a medium-sized display, and are constrained with space, such as those living in flats and dorm rooms. A quick rundown of the other features and specs of this Samsung display.

Samsung makes great high-definition sets – and the Samsung LN22A450 is no different. This budget sets aims to combine both great display quality and excellent value for money. The bezel-black 22-inch, 720p liquid crystal display was announced in March 2008, with a suggested retail price just around $599, though most online retailers have it for considerably less, which means making the move to high-definition has never been cheaper (if you haven’t done so already). We liked the sleek, compact design and a multitude of features of this budget-friendly television. But before we get to that, let’s take a quick look at the features and specs.

Our second model from Insignia is the Insignia NS-LTDVD32, a 720p, 32-inch liquid crystal display retailing for $699. The set comes in a glossy-black finish, as opposed to the earlier model we reviewed, which ultimately raises the aesthetic score of this television. A built-in DVD player is included, which might come in handy if you’re planning on using this set as a secondary display. Build quality was solid too, with the set weighing in a good 30 pounds (without the stand). A quick glance at the features and specifications of this unit.

The NS-LTDVD32 is a good midrange LCD display, and could be an attractive option if you’re making the move to HD and are on a budget. Pictures remained vibrant throughout, with nicely calibrated colors. Blacks were deep, and the built-in 8 watt speakers piped in very decent sound. The presence of two HDMI inputs is a welcome addition, as this will allow you to hook up more than one device at a given time. This comes particularly handy if you own a next-generation console, such as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Speaking of which, games should play pretty decently on this LCD – with no ghosting or immediate burn-ins. One reported minor shortcoming is the remote, where you have to push the buttons pretty firmly in order to get a response. The Insignia NS-LTDVD32-09 is a well designed product, and comes across as a solid option if you’re looking for a 32-inch LCD without breaking the bank.

Insignia NS-LTDVD26 LCD HDTV Review
Insignia is a relative newcomer to the HDTV scene, but has quickly established itself as a quality and cost-sensitive supplier of displays. The Insignia NS-LTDVD26 is the first set we’ll be reviewing, and it features 26-inch of screen at an attractive price point of $599. Couple that with the built-in DVD player, speakers, and a decent connectivity options, and you’ve got yourself a nice little 720p display. It is ideal for use in a secondary bedroom, kitchen, or kids room. A quick look at the specs.
Insignia NS-LTDVD26-09 HDTV Features & Specifications Review:
- Resolution: 720p (1366 x 768)
- Aspect ratio: 16:9 widescreen
- Contrast ratio: 800:1
- Brightness: 400 cd/m2
- Viewing angle: 178°
- Built-in tuners: QAM
- Picture-in-picture: No
- PC compatible: Yes
- HDMI inputs: 1
- Component inputs: 1
- Composite inputs: 2
- S-Video input: 1
- PC-VGA input: 1
- Weight: 22.1 pounds
The most striking aspect of the NS-LTDVD26 is, of course, the inclusion of a DVD player built into the set itself. This means you don’t have the to connect a separate DVD player to watch movies. This could both be a blessing and a curse, depending on which way you look at it. On one hand, you not only save on an extra DVD player, but also have one spare input. On the other hand, you might run into compatibility problem with some discs, which only play on some of the high-end, dedicated DVD players. The picture quality was great for a budget HDTV but not quite a Samsung/Sony. Images were crisp and bright, with no noticeable ghosting. Use as a PC monitor went works well too, and the built-in 6 watt speakers produced decent sound. All in all, the Insignia NS-LTDVD26 is a well-rounded product that offers a good feature set and image quality, at an even better price point.
